Hotpoint have introduced some black appliances, no great surprises there as everyone seems to think that black is the new white in appliances at the moment but, it’s a bit different. That is apart from the fact that the idea could be that they are already coloured for their funeral.
But this snippet about a product release is quite interesting, just not for the reason that you may think, read on to find out more.
The Hotpoint Black Quadrio Fridge Freezer has two doors and 2 pull out freezer drawers adding a unique spin and what is being hailed by Hotpoint as a super stylish design. The point is lost here of it, but what do we know?

There are also dishwashers, tumble dryers and washing machines in the collection too and there’s going to be cooker hoods as well so, we’d guess, that means a line of ovens and hobs to match.

The Hotpoint WMD940K Ultima Washing Machine has an a Eco setting to help the environment and save you money, an LCD display, 8kg wash capacity and 1400rpm spin speed.

No prices were available at the time of writing but expect a small premium over the same thing in white.
Did you spot the weird thing about this though?
Look closely at how the machines are all badged.
That’s right, they’re all under the Hotpoint Ariston monicker which is a new thing. Of course, it’s hardly a surprise as both brand names are owned by the Indesit Company but this could be the start of the long mooted push to make Ariston and Hotpoint more “upmarket” brand names than they have been perceived to be. As, let’s face it, you could hardly say that Indesit was a name that invoked images of quality appliances for the last couple of decades.
This may also signal the start of the push into the rest of Europe for the Hotpoint badge as it is largely unknown outside the UK.

a fancy new set of clothes will not hide the shoddy crap underneath, for long.
they really need to get back to basics and produce functional stuff with a decent service life and economic repairability..
These black machines were released about 6 months ago in the UK, badged as Hotpoint with a ?£30 or so price premium on other colours. It looks like you have a ”Euro” press release?
nothing to see here, the Italian models are always badged as Hotpoint Ariston
Bring back polar, white, and almond… and bring back the 95 series machines while you”re at it. It is criminal that the Hotpoint name is being used on what are essentially ”Aristons”. At least the older Hotpoints were economically repairable when they did go wrong.
