A few days ago, it was reported that Bosch was closing a plant in Spain. However, they’ve since opened one in Egypt to produce cookers.

The new facility is set to make up to 350,000 gas cookers a year.

Information about this has proven hard to find but we do know that the plant was opened officially by Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and that this is the first African factory for BSH.

We also know the plant is located in 10th of Ramadan City, with a total investment exceeding €55m.

From what we can gather, the cookers that will be produced are 90cm range type cookers that are popular in the region, and there has been talk about potentially expanding into other product lines in the future but there’s no info on this presently. We also do not know if any of the machines made here will come to Europe or not.

The undertones of what we could find on this suggest that a big reason for choosing Egypt is the low labour costs but, we wish Bosch luck with this new plant and hope both they are Egypt do well from it.
