White garments have a green tinge to them, often in patches when removed from the washing machine.

This problem is not due to a fault with your washing machine and a service visit cannot solve this issue.

  Treatment

Soak the garment overnight in warm water (40°C) containing a flaked bar of soap, eg, Fairy or Camay soap. Wash as normal following the fabric care label. Alternatively, hang the garment in bright sunlight. This should remove the green tinge; if not, the discolouration is possibly due to dye transfer.

Photobleaches in detergents are designed to give extra cleaning even after washing. The effect of sunlight on these increases the detergent performance. In a small number of cases this may leave a green tinge on your white garments.
