KeymasterOkay so I’m splitting this stuff into different threads as it’s easier to manage and, hopefully, we’ll manage to stay on topic which would make a change from the norm. 😆
Since it’s pretty evident that this is going to go ahead we need a name that is suitable, my own suggestion was simple:
Whitegoods Trade Association (WTA)
Says what it is on the tin.
I was talking to Lawrence about this the other day, amongst others, and the net result is that regardless of what we do it’s going to get the “oh, it’s just a UK Whitegoods thing” regardless of what we do, call it or much else. So, I thought, it may as well get the benefit from the branding and promotion work that we do as it’d save a fortune in both time and money.

What I would ask is does the word Whitegoods mean a great deal to the general public? Do they realise their appliances are refered to as whitegoods? Maybe something using domestic appliances would be more recognisable.
Just a thought 😕

Yeah Barry, I know. 😕
But there again over 1600 people a day get it, mainly due to the visual element of the three appliance logo thing, it gets the point across without a single bit of text.
I dunno, I just like short snappy things, simple things. 😉

Maybe I’m jumping too far ahead, but would this be a problem? I’m just assuming that the www address would have to be the same as the abreviation?

KeymasterI’ll sort it as soon as we decide on the name. 😉

Obviously to see this forward any new TA would have to have an associateable (no pun intended) website. I have gone through dozens of name options myself (serious ones that is) and short and sweet is the way to go.
As I so very often agree with Ken 😉 I would propose that we adopt the name WHITEGOODS TRADE ASSOCIATION. It is self-explanitory, cannot me missunderstood and is short and sweet. Furthermore an appropriate website (http://www.thewta.org) is up for grabs right now! (I think I will register it? :innocent: )
So, the next question, if my proposal is accepted? Who is going to register the name? I ask that because I’m not sure that UKW.ltd should be seen to be the owners? 😕

Rarely, I’ll agree with Martin. 😮
I never really went for these contrived acronyms, they more often than not just seem cheesy to me. Some work though.
Let me do the domain name thing once we’re settled as remember, Google is my friend and I’ve learned a lot about this stuff the past few years. 😉
Then name, to secure a web presence, will cost about £1-200 as you grab all the extensions and permutations that you legally can. The domain will be registered to the TA, not to UKW although I’ll pay for it and reclaim if that’s okay with everyone?
Domain can be pointed to a nameserver within 24 hours, up to 72 hours to propagate the DNS servers around the web.
For a site I’d suggest a simple CMS system for now to get started with.

Some bloke called George has reserved thewta.org (about 30mins ago in fact)
Once the confirmation Email is received and all DNS servers update their cached records I’m sure George will get in touch with you 😉 😉 😉
