A branch of the German Bosch Siemens Concern (BSH) has opened a refrigerator plant in St.Petersburg on Thursday.
This is a first Bosch -Siemens refrigerator producer in Russia; its design capacity is 500,000 refrigerators a year that will be supplied to markets in Russia and Eastern Europe.
The new refrigerator plant is situated in the Neuendorf -Strelnya zone. The construction of the plant continued for two years. Around 50 million euros were invested into the project. St.Petersburg financed technical -engineering preparation of the territory. At first, the refrigerator plant will have 500 on staff, and later, 450 more personnel will be employed. Russia accounts for maximum production material supply to the new plant.
St.Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko said at an opening ceremony that the Bosch Siemens plant put into service was an important landmark both for St. Petersburg and entire Russia. It is another proof of growing confidence in the Russian economy and St. Petersburg being the most attractive site for investments, the governor said.
She thanked the German concern for charities, in particular, for its plans to turn over a first batch of new refrigerators to large families and orphanages in St. Petersburg.
In return, Matviyenko made a present to Bosch, saying that the street where the building of the new plant is situated would be named after Karl Siemens – a prominent German entrepreneur of the 19th century.
