Re: Advice needed – Safety Issue!

FD8204 is April 2002. Which suggests it is actually a DWF30/2 produced for one month only, the very last month these were made.

However most of this is really only of historic interest.

Its a Bosch/Hotpoint wherever it was made and some of these do have modules that have burnt out quite badly as Martin’s picture testifies.

I can honestly say though that I have never seen one cause a fire, unlike the certain Zanussi dishwashers in the past. :rolls:

It will be interesting to hear the outcome, please keep us updated.

    PS. Its Jim BTW. 😉

Ah, Jim, yes LOL, sorry, i think i saw ur three-letter name and muddled it up with your I.D.!

As i said before, i now (and have for many years) run a domestic cleaning business. It is interesting to see what things (not just appliances) people buy and own, and how they fair. So many people i’ve worked for and do still work for have had a Bosch dishwasher under one name or another (Neff, Seimens etc). They must have a good reputation. When i was selling them, our leader was Indesit, because back then dishwashers were still seen as very much a ‘luxury’ item, so folk didnt usually want to be seen to be spending £££ on them.

My first dishwasher -for my sins- was a lovely looking Ariston. I was never confident in it actually. I had it for 2 years and 3 months, before it flooded the kitchen. Why? Well the spot-welds had failed around the cabinet and the framework came loose. Merloni told me this had been an on-going issue and had mine failed sooner (i think they said 18 months) they would have replaced the machine FOC. As it stood, they sold me a brand-new T-O-L Indesit for £70, direct from the factory. What a joke. First one flooded and it took me no end of engineers calls and arguing to get the 2nd one taken away. Had it for 3 months. A joke.

And then i bought my DWF30. And i love it. Like i say, 4 house moves and it still goes on. I won’t and never have used it when i am out as too many people came to me in the showroom and said their ‘old’ dishwasher had started a fire. Its funny, because i bought a Creda condensor dryer and the Ariston dishwasher in the December of 2000, and by early 2002, both were dud. The Bosch sensor condensor dryer i got and the Hotpoint dishwasher have both been troopers, although the dryer is actually falling to bits and now lives in the shed…and yet refuses to die. I did in fact get 2 dryers for the price of one, but that was due to a cock-up at Bosch home delivery. Thats another story.

Anyway, thanks for all your advice so far…i will deffo keep this one updated. Cheers.

Hope you’ll excuse me butting in on this thread, but it is related.

I’d be grateful if you experts would confirm for my wife’s benefit that – despite receiving the warning notice – our Bosch Exccel dishwasher, SRS43E02GB, is not included in this action….

Thanks in advance (and renewed thanks for past help!)

The SRS43E02GB/13 and SRS43E02GB/18 are subject to recall. What’s the /?? number of your machine?

:eeek: It’s 13! (FD8307). I’d read the letter as meaning it would just be machines with model number starting SGS4 PLUS that batch number.

The machine is built in to the kitchen units, under a continuous worktop – is it likely the engineer will be able to do the work without moving the machine out?

Boy, am I glad I asked! :rolls:

I’ll get on to Bosch straight away. And many, many thanks!

Engineer booked for Tuesday – and that “Yes” was just what I wanted to read. In the meantime I’ve switched off at the wall socket.

Re: Advice needed – Safety Issue!

An update…Hotpoint engineer came, said that the indesit group are now aware of the Bosch recall situation (said info was filtering through to them about a fortnight ago) and that the engineers are doing FREE inspections and replacement of faulty circuit boards, said that they would ‘green spot’ machines that were OK and/or had had a new PCB. As i was talking to him on the phone (my better half waited in for the visit) i didn’t probe him on what that meant.

Anyway, wouldn’t you know it, he said the PCB on my DWF30 was fine, so what exactly they are looking for, well, you guys will probably know, but i haven’t a clue. He told the better half that ours was the first one he’s been called to and said he himself really wants one of these machines as they are so good…better half said didn’t think to ask how much he’d give for ours 👿 Oh well 😀

So -at the risk of sounding that i actually care- i guess as to what happens to all the other DWF30’s out there will be down to how Indesit decide to inform the world of the problem. If at all. But anyway, so that you all know, DWF30 (and i guess other models in the serial number ranges affected) owners can contact Indesit service for a free inspection.

if you add 20 to the 82 it is 2002 this is how the fd number works, i was told this by a bosch engineer so add 20 to the first 2 numbers and this is the year it was manufactured

All the appliances affected by the BSH recall are hving the control module replaced REGARDLESS of if there’s any signs of poor soldering/sparked components . Very few modules will actually have any visible signs of damage but they’re ALL being changed as a matter of course.

Unless your appliance wasn’t one of the models on the list , they may return .

Re: Advice needed – Safety Issue!

Hi nomadpaul. I may not have explained what i meant – sorry. The engineer wasn’t looking for traces of damage, he was looking to see if the PCB was on of the ones affected. There is more than one type – so they said – and not all are affected. That is all i know and no, they are not coming back…so this is where my limited knowledge of the situation ends and where i am now dependant on the experts like yourself to advise further 😕

    Ignore that last post 😳

Better-half has now decided that after reading message from nomad, that yes, it was an inspection of the PCB for signs of overheating / scorching etc.

Given that i read here that bosch are replacing the boards, i think a fone call to Indesit will be happening in the morning :rolls:

How did you get on? Until the other week i would have said don’t be too concerned but i did attend one of these for an insurance assessment…..

I think it was fortunate that in this particular kitchen the worktops were stainless steel normally only seen in commercial kitchens and not in a residential property like this was. There were signs of heat damage to the worktop and the smoke damage was considerable. There was also some damage to the flooring where the housewife had beaten the flames down with a damp cloth which had flicked molten plastic about! 😯

    OMG!!!!!

As yet, I have not contacted Indesit since my last message as i’ve just been too busy. That picture has really freaked me out 🙁

Genuine thanks sent though for showing me.
