It appears there are dozens of accounts of FDW60’s catching fire…..first I knew though. Indesit have kept that quiet……how come no national recall notices put out?

As a moderator perhaps you would find a more suitable place to move this post instead of leaving a pedantic message, I was just trying to help, by Sharing a email I got and found this thread whilst searching for formal recall notice.
:boops:
Sorry fr trying to help, please delete my account and remove my misplaced information if it irks you so much!

Whoaaa there, steady on, don’t be so touchy. π₯
I was merely stating that your recall notice was not connected to the Bosch based machines to which this thread relates. Doing so will hopefully avoid any confusion for future readers of the thread. π
To date there appears to be no mention of this latest recall on the Hotpoint/Indesit web sites. That is why I put a β at the end of my post, until your post most of us had not heard about this recall.
My message was not intended to be pedantic, just clarifying the facts, pure and simple. 8)
PS. I also edited the e-mail address for you as you had posted .co.ukto which would not have worked. π

Through this approach, we have identified that there is a low risk that modules fitted to a limited number of Hotpoint FDW20 / FDW60 / FDW65A dishwashers manufactured between June 2006 and March 2007 and sold in the United Kingdom may cause overheating and in rare cases a potential fire hazard. Hope this help those who perhaps don’t get notified
Its not meant to be pubic knowledge this;)This one has been happening behind the scenes for some time,I know they are taking it very seriously and replacing the Bit timer due to a possible poor connection for the heater ,its something to do with bad soldering on the board with in the SN range.
Tbh it’s then one place Iv not seen a problem with these , if it was burnt wires on the heater then it would be a different story
they are trying to contact the customers directly, I do believe they are being watched on how its handled though, obviously will all the bad press recently re fired they are trying to keep a lid on it.
I believe it initially came to light from Whitch that got info on all appliance fires and noticed a large number of those particular models. They contacted Indesit and it went from thereMarch 25, 2013 at 8:13 am #356982Martin

We were discussing in the trade forums only last week about the lack of communication between those that are aware of faults like this and those that own these potential fire hazards. And it appears the Hotpoint FDW series dishwasher has been widely reported by many as having a serious fault and that several have burst into flames as a result of an, as yet unspecified, electrical fault. Which begs the question : Just how many fires does it take before the owners are alerted toward the dangers?
Do please read THESE REVIEWS

Iv seen that last year, from what I gather its a fault that has taken some time to come to light and has only started happening a few years down the line in ownership, the reports seem to start in 2010, add to that the fact they were not fully aware of just how many had gone up as they are not always referred back to the manufacture when a fire happens.
Since they have known it took some time to find the cause as the bit timer design is almost identical across all their DW of the 2001 to 2008 and the others don’t suffer from it.
They are contacting every customer they believe has one but it boils down to the same as the Beko situation, finding the machines is no easy task.
As Iv said before I’m no longer in the loop but I do see some of the lads every few weeks for a chat but they were very reluctant to spill the beans.

Report from Which? : –
Which? wrote:Hotpoint dishwashers
There appeared to be a disproportionate number of fires attributed to Hotpoint dishwashers that emerged from our research β even taking into account that this is a popular brand with a large share of the market.Which? asked Hotpoint whether it was aware of any problems. It said: βWe know of only a small number of cases with minor problems.β
Hotpoint has identified two series of dishwashers that it says have issues. The DWF3 series (produced from 1999-2002) is βvery low riskβ, and the FDW2&6 series (produced from 2006-8) is now under investigation. Hotpoint says its current dishwasher ranges are made differently.
Hotpoint also stated that it is always willing to cooperate with fire brigades and, where it has received reports from them via trading standards offices, it has responded. It says that it continually monitors the safety records of its appliances, and if becomes aware of any potential issues with a product, it takes immediate action to address the issue.

As they say “when the brown stuff hits the fan”April 16, 2013 at 10:25 pm #356989madangler1

I believe try are running a media campaign to try and alert people why may have one.
Difficult situation for all the manufactures if they can’t find it they have no hope.

We see them daily but they wont play ball with independants. Simple solution is to inform UKWG, parts suppliers etc, our email addresses are on the records, simples……world of technology. Then as well we see the “other makes and models” which have similar faults. Good feedback is what is needed on a two way basis

Does look like an issue around those two cables. The pink and brown ones.
That’s the area the new modification is done in.
Even though it should not happen its a very odd fault that only seems to happen after a large period of time. Its not something that jumps out at you as a massive design issue,Iv go to say though still don’t understand why people put these one and go out though, its asking for something to happen.
