According to the rep I finally spoke to, the machine looks for the strongest signal and uses it, if you are in a black spot you need to do it as customer not present when you get to a signal.

I have the EFT930G and i am not that impressed
I am only succesfull with about 1/2 the transactions. For some reason its unable to connect even when there is a strong signal.
You can change networks, but you need the supervisor card to do this, which is not practical.
I have e-mailed Elavon last weekend but have not yet received a reply. As I said, not that impressed and am wondering if it is worth it. 😐May 29, 2012 at 1:44 pm #361147Martin114

I had similar problems with both my terminals and they reset the terminal over the phone.

they do all the paper work on your behalf.
Second year + pay annual subs of £17.00, half the cost of all the ones I have seen. With this you get Free insurance of 60K to cover you against fraud transactions.
Monthly statments on line.
Just checked my statements and it appears I have been paying £17 per month for the last 4 months. :rolls:
The terminal is failing 8/10 times and is costing money in telephone referrals for authorisation. This is after finding out how to change the network. Think I’ll call them tomorrow 😥

Hi Tony,
Had the same problems with both my terminals, one they sorted with a software update but the other is getting swapped over as I probably get one successful transaction in 10

Hi Guys, I find that if the terminal is only switched on when you need to do a transaction it usually works. I had a problem before with transactions going through when the terminal was on all the time. HTH 🙂

ps I have just been charged £17 for PCI Non compliance Fee.July 5, 2012 at 2:48 pm #361153Alanj

I have to say I am not happy with this “deal” we are supposed to have for a card terminal.
When I first read about it on here it sounded good:
£22.00 a month, no minimum service charge, PCI non compliance free for a year then £17per year.
I was asked to sign the application forms and send them back to John Morris and he would sort out the rest. I have not seen a rep for Payzone.
The deal I have is tied in for 5 years, £22.00 + vat, £10/Month minimum service charge, £17.00/month PCI non compliance fee.
I called Payzone yesterday to complain and am still waiting to hear back from them 😥 AlanJuly 5, 2012 at 4:21 pm #361154jeremy

there seems to be a trend developing regarding mobile terminals and the contracts surrounding them. i have had mine from payment sense for about 15 months nothing but problems re signal (vodafone) i was under the impression i was getting a roaming sim but didnt, numerous phone calls over the period i have had it for no signal, they get vodafone to refresh the sim then its ok for a while. atm i cant take any payments in my area due to vodafone having a fault with no date of resolution (29/06 it started). the leasing company of the equipment and payment sense just say its not their problem!!! vert frustrated. called the merchant bank to get the transaction put through manually, 10 days min time!! and they wonder why people are so cynical about banks etc etc. They told me yesterday i could cancel my contract, £190 + vat + 2 months terminal rental. Nice! Are they all the same? im beginning to think they are.

I’m assuming (hoping!) the £17 is for the year only and not monthly. 😯
I also had problems with transactions going through even though the signal is strong. Wasn’t even able to do customer not present until I contacted Payzone who did an upgrade which sorted it. I have to say since the upgrade the transactions seem to be going through better.
I agree with AlanJ in that if you only switch the terminal on when you need it then it seems to work more efficiently. The battery lasts quite a long time this way to. On my terminal the battery level seems to bear no relation to it’s ability to process a transaction. 😕
Overall though I have to say it has been very beneficial and is great when a customer pays over the phone. Most customers have been really pleased (and relieved!) that they are able to pay by card. 😀
