    You’re right Steve!
I’ve just had a look through the welcome information and found the same thing. This is all new to me, so when I read the welcome info the first time around I thought it was all sorted out in the signed paperwork. Obviously not! :rolls:

Apparently it says in the FAQ’s that this has only happened in the last three years which would explain why I didn’t know about it as we had our shop with a PDQ machine about 6 years ago now.

I’m going to have a go at registering now.

    Morning Guys

Had a response back from Elavon and as thought this is a penalty charge for non compliance! 😡

    Dear Steven,

    Thank you for your email.

Please see the section on PCI Charges from page six of the contract that the merchant signed. (this is the standard contract that all your members have signed)

The fee that has been charged is not an annual fee, it is a penalty fee. The reason the merchant has been charged a PCI Non Compliance Fee is that after 90 days they have not completed the PCI Compliance Process as per contract below. They need to register and complete the appropriate online questionnaire, either with Trustwave or with another provider.

To register with Trustwave the merchant will need to go to http://www.elavon.com/pci and select “Verify Compliance” and then “Register and Become Compliant”. This will lead them through a series of questions and eventually they will be issued a certificate if they have answered correctly. If they do run into any difficulties please ask them to call Trustwave directly on Free Phone 0800 917 8986.

As thought like the rest of you, I belived this to have been sorted by Payzone, He said they would handle everything :rolls:

Unless John is on holiday he is ingnoring all my communications which TBH does not look good for thier customer services!

just registerd fairly straight forward only took 10 mins, got certificate now 🙂

Sorry about the mix up, hopefully John will have the courtesy to get in touch at some point ❗
I hope this has answered some of the questions, but get registered as poppins said only takes minutes 😉

I have just got off the phone wth John and just to say he has been on holiday for 2 weeks and just got back!

He will be emailing everyone shortly who has had issues but he has asked me to apologize for the misunderstanding.
As per Lawrences post he said please just give him a call.

If anyone has had any charges applies to the account then send him your details with the amounts and he is going to speak to the admin manager and try and get it refunded.

    Hopefully a result.

I have just come across this card reader from payleven,/ intuit.
Charge £89 +vat one off for card reader and charge 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} across the board.
No monthly fees so could be ideal for those who don’t take many cards.

Works with iPhone / android. Only had a quick read of it but may be of use?

There’s a war brewing in this space.

Intuit, Square, PayPal and a few others are all going for it and I was sitting back, watching and waiting to see who does what when to try to predict who will survive and who won’t.

Sounds expensive as if you don’t take many cards. Do the maths, my customers would pay by card if they buys a new appliance. So average cost would be £300 and to pay by card at 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} which meant either you or the customer pay the extra £8.25. Profit margins are very small in order to be competitive. I’m dependant on that £8.25. Multiply it by let’s say 4 times is £33, that £33 is just under half a tank of diesel to me.

I’m unsure on how to include the charges as we see the well publicised info about card recessing charges costs 50p, where did they get that figure from? My customers expects the charges to be that low as 50p let alone 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on £300 for £8.25 “admin” charges.

Hi Twicknix, how do you facter in your payment for your terminal?
If you have the payzone one thats £26.39 a month for a start and then your card charges on top. If you don’t take a lot of payments then maybe it’s better to work with only card charges.
Some readers are even being offered free of charge!

I still do not have a card payment facility, iZettle seems to offer a good price at the moment especially if you are a Costco member, they offer a period of free card processing and once that expires it becomes 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Santander offer a special price for it, pay £99 and use it then you get £50 cashback.

I have not found any that offers less than 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. There is a website that allow you to produce QR scan to enable your customer to make payment via their smart phone or yours. The operating costs looks lower by the looks of it but if you dig deeper, there is this merchant costs via paypal which is considerably more expensive than iZettle.

I had wrestled on what to do with the charges, the small prints on iZettle stipulates that you cannot slap those charges onto the customer or put them at a disadvantage over cheque or cash transactions. I can’t work out how to include the charges without the customer realising it.

My call out fee is £45, so if I get customer to pay by card, then the charges would be £1.24 and that eats away the profit, like I mentioned on previous thread, if you multiply it by one card payment a day a month 30 days, then that is £37.20. It is quite a lot.

I came to the conclusion that it is cheaper to use cheque, cash and bank transfer. The only thing I lose out if someone wants to pay by credit card for the purchase of new appliance, usually they find a way around it.

Hope that answers your query? I know I am not overly helpful, just that card payment is not for me for the time being due to costs.

I am happy to hear on how others do it.
