KeymasterRe: DASA!
It seems impossible to leave DASA alone.
Whilst I appreciate the comments and input on the subject and I also think that DASA needs resolved one way or another I think it’s best we stay away from it for now. There is nothing to be gained by presecution of it.
Whether or not DASA survives is up to two people, Jason and Mark. If they walk, DASA folds, it really is that simple. Whether they want that burden or not, well I dunno, but it is their call really.
What I can see is the membership dropping and it’s a trend that’s been in effect for some time now and whether at this stage it can be reversed is doubtful at best. You see, DASA has really nothing to offer other than an exclusive little club IMO with the odd meeting that may be of some interest to some people in the industry. Both Mark and Jason are extremely restricted in what they can actually do with it due to both the internal politics and the rules of the association. So change, if there is to be any, will come slowly and at a price, as was shown by the number that left after CH was terminated.
I dunno, maybe it can be saved, but what I do know is that there had best be something worthwhile in it relatively soon or it is doomed so far as I can see.
And no, UKW will not be taking over.

KeymasterRe: DASA!
Please explain WHY I should back off……and leave the press officer to make remarks in private about me on the Dasa website.
I’m not persecuting Dasa. They do that themselves everytime they allow one of their own to bring personal remarks into a debate/reply.
If people can’t leave the personal slagging out of it and I have asked Tinhips why he did it and he refused to answer, then so be it. I’m not going down to that level but I reserve the right to say what I want in open forum.

KeymasterYeah I know, the personal remarks were a bit much to take IMO as well and I said so. I will also not be telling you what to or not to say regarding DASA, it’s up to them to respond sensibly.
It casts a very poor light on DASA when the response is something like that.
The way things are going though I have to admit I’m thinking very hard about signing a cheque for DASA.

I haven’t had a lot to say about this subject so far and thought it was about time I did. I posted in the DASA forum some comments about how I feel on 8th July 04 and got an immediate reply from Jason asking me to go to the DASA forums for a response. I also got an email from DASA acknowledging my comments and asking me to log onto the website for a response. Right below this request was a sentence telling me not to log onto DASA with an alias and to change my user name.
I tried to log onto the DASA forums but my password wouldn’t work so sent three emails over 2 months to Scott to requesting access. I got the survey phone call from Steve Rocheford and mentioned to him my problems accessing the site and he sent an email to Scott with a copy to me and I eventually got the password sent to me and can now get on the site and have read Jason’s response 4 months after my original posting which answered some of my questions.
Question is why did the response not go on the original post? It is after all a DASA forum with only DASA members gaining access to it. If all replies to questions are going to be sent to the DASA site why do we have a DASA forum on UKW
To finish off, my access rights to the DASA website were cut off right after my post in UKW and the reason given was that I was using an alias. Why is it that there are at least a dozen members on the site still using aliases?
I would also like to add that I have read the comments printed by Dave Pannell on DASA about Kevin being “childish” and would like to point out the old saying “the pot calling the kettle black” I think the officers should have a quiet word in the his ear.

KeymasterRe: DASA!
I know that really hacked you off John and it’s not the only abnormality on the DASA forums either. Reports of missing posts, told to keep it formal then others don’t etc., as well as some kind of post limits are in place but since Scott took away both my and Dave’s admin rights we can’t see what the hell he’s done, not that I really want to be involved with it at this point in time.
As I had said before we lost it in the crash, the DASA website is a shambles, it makes DASA look like a shambles and, currently, that is the ONLY way that DASA is communicating with anyone.
On the subject of communications, it would appear that many in DASA have pretty much gone to ground and there’s little or no response from anyone but in particular Mark. Mark you really have to lead DASA and answer questions/get involved otherwise it will fail, there’s nothing surer. I know you’re stressed for time and I know you’re not the best typist but it really does need doing. Picking up the phone was fine when it was the old grapevine but if you want it to be seen as something other than “the old boys club” you have to communicate with many people, not just a few and I doubt that the telephone is good enough for that.
I mean just listen even to Steve Rochefort, he was telling us that the time was critical for the survival of DASA and that stuff had to be done and seen to be done quickly and what’s happened? Bugger all, that’s what.
Even if something is happening, what, where? I don’t see it.
If nothing else, we told you so. 🙄

Funny, I noticed that.
EastLMark is still talking I’m pleased to say & I think Jason is still in touch. But where are some of the others lately. Del, Scoggs, Neil Howieson, Phil Dill to name just a few.
I’m sorry but it aint our fault if DASA are a bloody shambles, surely this is not a case of “shooting the messenger”, or is it?
Come on you DASA boys, prove me wrong!!

ParticipantIs it worth checking logs to see if they’re still reading? That would show interest level if not actual participation.

KeymasterRe: DASA!
I have no idea where they’ve all gone.
Phil and Jason read the site. Del’s always about just quiet of late.
I do know that Scott has taken the hump big time, probably because I told him off for cross posting etc and had a go at DASA (heaven forbid :o) and he’s not been seen in ages. Neil has hardly ever been on UKW, Walter doesn’t even have an account!
Oldtog has obviously gone in a huff over Kevin’s remarks after he as in OT, started the personal slanging. 😕
Ralph is on and reading.
But that’s just what I can see from being on the site.
Just using a little admin module called MS Analysis I can see the last login of each account based on the top 100 page views.
As of today…
Scotty last seen 81 days ago
Mark 40 days agoI could look more if I wished but CBA TBH.
However looking over the DASA site the only people that seem to be saying anything or doing anything there are Jason and Ralph Halford really with the odd post from Dave Pannell as well, so it’s hardly jumping over there either.
I feel sorry for Jason as he seems to be the only one giving a shit about DASA right now and he’s being left to do it all himself and he’s too busy shagging… err, sorry… planning a wedding for it! :rotfl:
There’s not even an agenda for the meeting this month yet other than a bill of who’s supposed to be attending. The website revamp hasn’t happened. None of the things Steve R suggested have been attended to so far as I can see. There’s been little, if any, clarification on Part P or anything else for that matter.
Essentially there’s nothing happening so I assume that they’re all too busy with their own businesses to be doing anything for DASA. But then, Chris Hayter was too busy or ill to be doing anything either and we got shot of him due to that, one year on and there’s…. NO CHANGE!!!
Is it any wonder that DASA gets a slagging?
