also by tying customer down to a callout for a probable BER, do others feel that customers will feel more inclined to shell out for the repair as theyve already wasted £30 on a callout, might as well spend another 100 and get it fixed, in for a penny… etc
Hmm. I don’t know about that. I can’t remember the last time anyone went against my advice and opted for a repair when I had called it BER. It has happened a few times – when the customer was about to move house for example and had agreed to sell the machine on to the new owner – you know, “just get the damn’ thing going for now.” Even down here in windswept Cornwall, there’s the odd unscrupulus character, would you believe?

I dont sell mercurys, sell lots of Stoves ranges, Miele appliances, Liebherr, Neff, Bosch, Smeg, Rangemaster, Smeg, ISE, Baumatic, GE fridges, Elica. And actually that £600k is excluding vat, thats why i am not bothered about repaircare anymore, just fill in jobs if we are in the area installing a Miele with a £200 profit!
My Website :- http://www.kitchenkitsw.com if you want to buy something.

And a very nice website it is too. Looking it up on Google maps I see that Unit 32 has got black vans outside and a blue Appliance World sign above the unit. Have you recently bought them out? Looks pretty slick all the same and good fortune to you……:D

Hey Nige fancy expanding into Devon mate !
Excellent website, very easy on the eye and technically very good and easy to navigate, extremely jealous as I couldn’t afford one like it, just have to stick with the one I do myself 😀December 23, 2010 at 1:38 pm #337807DrDill

The black van actually says Appliance world on too. Its a bit of an old picture, and i have actually changed the name to KITCHEN KIT LTD as too much confusion with all the other Appliance Worlds. I have also moved into fitted kitchens, so the name sort of fits better with in that.
Website also needs a lot more products adding but its coming along. I also won best Independant dealer from ERT magazine, so we are doing something right. We also get regular visits from Trading Standards who are based 100 yards away, and regular visits from HSE, hence my stance on trying to do everything correctly!
Jonah:- the website cost me £800, as i have to input most of data and pricing etc.

Ah, so that’s the real reason why you’re so, “Absolutely Scrupulous”?
Phew! I had thought you must be some kind of android.Mind you, don’t forget to ring your friends and ask them to pop round and check me out; or next time you see them, if they’re due round soon. I’d love to have a chat with them. Perhaps I’ll show them this thread so they can see for themselves what I get up to!
😆

Now here’s the easy option. JUST VISIT THE DAMN MACHINE. Simples! Are you putting any caveats on that at all or, is it a case of every machine should get a visit regardless?
I’m just asking as I don’t think that this has been well thought through by anyone here. Nor have they considered the root of the actual problem, just whinging about the symptoms instead of trying to cure the disease.

:hmm: You’ve got me wondering, there Ken? Can you unpack it for us a little? Is it about ISE? Or what?

I was in that same situation once but with an expensive whirlpool door seal I’d ordered in 😯Just remembered, exactly same happened to me on a Whirlpool couple of years ago. Bet it’s still in my spares pile somewhere.

No Mike, a topic for another time perhaps and certainly another thread.

:hmm: Please tell me. Who is making more money than you? Maybe they could teach me something.
I have to say, this thread is proving very educational!

Ahh! DrDill and his hatred for TA’s appears again!
DrDill, let me clarify…
1. WTA Members are bonafide! They are respectable members of our trade.
2. If you know of any WTA member that steals from customers, or does not work safely OR to the WTA COP, please email me adrian.welke@whitegoodstradeassociaion.org and I’ll investigate.
Trade Associations bring out the best in the game DrDill, AFTER finding the d1ckheads that might work to a poor or low standard and weeding them out!
Whether it be the WTA or DASA, do NOT assume that all wrong malpractices are committed by TA Members. The relevant TA will have measures in place, to ensure things like that doesn’t happen, and if it did, again, the relevant TA would have procedures to deal with it.

Adrian, i am a little confused as to where you fit in this thread, and the thread is now taking a different direction, but let me reply:-
1) i dont have a hatred for TA’s at all, its what i want
2) Trade assosiations might bring the best out of some, or indeed the worse in others, show me the research that proves that point
3) i dont assume that all malpractices are carried out by committed TA members and i would like you to tell me where i said that.Your a clever guy Aidrian, the above seams to me like an attack against me, what you have wrote is not what i would expect to see from a leading member of the WTA Council.
I think you need to appologise to me for the above as i feel that you have misread my posts. So now as you have brought up the WTA:-
1) how many members does the WTA have that have paid up?
2) what is this code of practice?
3) How have you weeded out the D##kheads? -
