Not at all. Earlier in the week I checked for a WTA member for a relative of mine in Leicestershire only to find they ceased trading 2 yrs back. I posted to that effect and Lawrence is now in the process of doing a much needed up-date to the WTA members list/ map. No doubt that will include up-dating your own web link. 😀

The West Country seems generally to be doing well, probably due to the fact we have no heavy, mining or motor industry which has cost loads of jobs up north which in turn has a knock on effect in other parts of the country reducing living standards considerably for an awful lot of people.
As for ourselves we are doing nicely, now booking next Thursday for delivery and installs, Wednesday next week for service calls, three day lead time on workshop repairs and spares for visiting trade guys and DIYers is ticking over nicely.
We do contract service work plus our own cash customers, selected letting agents and private landlords are catered for as well.
On the retail side we supply the lets and landlords along with our own customers. We are selective on which brands we display and sell but if a customer wants a product we don’t stock I will gladly supply it if I can.
I also look out for niche areas which the multiples do not get involved in like Gorenje retro refrigeration and the large capacity Maytag American laundry machines.
Don’t all come rushing down from the North looking for a share though 😉

I find that’s how it goes these days,quite often dead for a couple of weeks,and then a bunch comes in over a few days and I cant do it all, sometimes even turning work away 😯I still love being self employed and in control of my own day, but the chicken feed money coming in compared to 20 years ago gets depressing 🙁

Wow. 30 calls booked in, where the hell did that come from, of course you’re assuming (again) that no work was booked at all next week. All my comments andy are based on what you have said actually, and if you had work already booked fopr next week why are you saying you are quiet, you don’t make sense, did you know that 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of your posts are in the technical forum? maybe that throws up something?

From my first post on this thread I said it’s fairly busy but it’s harder to make a living doing this job. And 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} in the technical forum ??

At least 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of those are offering help or advice, not asking for it. 😉

Thanks Jim. Not sure what the problem is here. A forum is (I thought) for helping others and getting help with certain info. I’ve been doing this now for the best part of 30years and one of the biggest things I’ve learnt is you will never ever know everything. Learn something new every day no matter how good you think you are.
