We have on our Database 59 repairers who operate from a BS postcode, rest assurred we are working on it. 8)

Problem with Bristol is there are loads of “one-man-bands” who have too much work anyway. The size of repairers that should be available for such a city are undersubscribed.

Service Force found this when the previous repairers for the BS codes had to be terminated, they simply could not find any suitable replacement. Despite the size and logistics, there were no contenders. Those that did quailfy by having the capabilities & skills were too busy to think about it, due being overworked as there is a lack of repair companies in the area.

Ask any work provider from the Avon Gorge area, I’m sure they will concur, there happens to be a dearth of quaility repairers that want more work.

Shame really, and such a situation may evolve into other parts of the land.

I’ve downloaded the pdf, but the problem is I don’t do faxes. It says in the charter I have to be contactable by fax; really?

I cover the BB area. Do you have some1 covering this area and do you get requests for engineers in this area?

Goatboy, if you are using Windows XP you do have fax, it’s a built in feature 😉

As far as the BB codes go, it doesn’t matter if there is already someone there as the calls get evenly distributed at the moment.

If you fill the form in by hand, scan it then email it to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk that will be fine thanks.

In fact the above applies to anyone, if you want to do it that way. it’s fine 😀

The reason I did teh fax-to-email thing, which is what the return number is, was to save having to try and explain or support a plethora of different scanners and art packages as people struggled with it. There are quite a few people out there that don’t use email in that way, and since the Charter was written we’ve discovered quite a few that do not have a fax facility as well.

As Dave points out, most people do have the ability to send and recieve faxes, knowing how to use it is a different story. That aside, if you do need to recieve a fax you can use the 0870 number on the form and I’d just forward it via email to you anyway. Handy thing fax-to-email is. 😉

But we won’t crucify you over it and we won’t exclude you because of it. The Charter was never intended as a “you must” document, it was intended to show that the businesses signing up would be of a good standard without constraining them too much. And, let me put it this way, we’ve had nothing but praise from customers for the guys efforts thus far so we must have pitched it right IMO.

Well, I did my first call via repairs@ in a roundabout way today. They actually landed here via washerhelp.co.uk which I notice is run by none other than andy_art_trigg 🙂

They seemed to be well satisfied with a Hotpoint 161498 armature and brush repair for £65.00. 8)

Unfortunately they had been seriously ripped off by someone from Yellow pages. When they showed my his 1/4 page advert I noticed that the address given was in fact a house on one of the roughest council estates in Rochdale. 😥
