Hi, our AWD 125 has suddenly stopped drying during the Drying cycle. Seems the machine is spinning, but the air is cold now, Not hot, as when cycle finishes, clothes are still damp, and COLD. Any suggestions please?

I just wanted to say a BIG thanx to you!! My ariston machine started doing the clunk clunk thing – followed guidence on clearing filter etc. Found 6p and lots of soggy tissue!! all seems good now….
But when it does eventually die I feel I may follow the advice of ‘theres better machines out there’.
again much thanx…
you probably save quite a few people time and money.

Our Margherita also runs through the dry cycle but doesn’t warm the air. I think the thermostat is goosed as it is open circuit when its cold ????? I tried shorting it out (its ok i’m a spark) just to see if the heater gets hot but the control dial does the useless “clicky” thing. Can anyone confirm its the stat or is it it likely to be something else?

What have you tested? What appears to be a thermostat on the heater box is in fact a thermistor, which should show a reading in the kohm range. Shorting it out gives zero resistance, which the computer will identify as a fault. Thing to check is the fabric sleeved wire leading to one of the heater terminals as this contains a singleshot microtemp as a safety cut-out, and fails quite regularly. A few of the latest machines do have a one-shot cut-out which looks like a thermostat instead of the cable; these should read 0 ohms, near as spit.
For the benefit of other readers, power off for testing please.

moved in with boyfriend on sunday and it feels like i broke things already. more like him not looking after his machine though.
i put the laundry in last night, it washed alright but didnt spin, nor drain.
(took laundry out soaking wet and ut it up so im a least wearing clean clothes now hehe)
went through all the other posts carefully this morning, flooded the kitchen floor when openeing the filter, dried everything (at least the floor is clean now lol) and cleaned the filter.
2 paperclips, 4 screws and 24 pence later it was at least spinning
HURRAY – i fixed it without a mechanic!! 😀but ….
it stops draining halfway. light flashes 5 times.
any one got any good suggestions at this stage?very tired cleaner 🙁

The fact that it is draining some water out proves that the pump is working. However, it should drain the drum completely within 30-40 seconds. It implies that there is still some sort of blockage somewhere.
Possibilities are choked coupling at sink (if that’s where the drain hose is connected to), crushed or kinked drain hose, sock or similar in tub to pump hose or a very tired drain pump just not spinning fast enough. The last may be identified if the pump makes a “drilling” or “burring” kind of noise.
Power of please if you finish up going underneath it.

thnx, truly a super penguin.
guess what…. the connection to the sink was all limescaled up. no wonder the pump had trouble.

Sorry but got a problem with an Ariston 2000 AWD 12UK, its partially filling with water when the program starts but then PCB starts clicking clockwise. I ve tried to reset, going to the black dot, and then starting program again but just does the same thing.
I ve checked the filter and pump but there dont appear to any problems there.
The flash series is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 pause and repeat.
Any ideas or comments greatfully appreciated.

8 flashes is F8 code which means a heater control problem.
Engineer time for this fault in all honesty as it points to the PCB but other components need testing before condemning it.
Check repairs@ on the main menu for a local engineer 🙂

You can’t really. Is it that the hose won’t reach the waste pipe ?
In an ideal world move the plumbing closer to the machine but failing that, the easiest solution is to fit a longer waste hose.
I assume that’s the reason anyway ?
Dave.
