Only one solution to this to stop this BULLs**t happening over & over again… Set up our own network! Flip it!Might take years yeah! But we all young pups! Lets do it?! I’m some young dude that’s losing faith in this trade! Lots like me out there… Need to keep them! And me! 8)
When you see Phil, ask him what he was proposing on this front….. 😉 I initially got shot down in flames for reporting that Qualtex were suggesting this a while back, but exploring the possibility of a repairer – led WP system with some backing in the light of what’s happening may at least be worth discussing.
Cue the tidal wave of dissent……. 😕Steve.

KeymasterNot at all Steve, but the contract work side of things is or, can be, very complex and is riddled with politics. That’s why you’ll get loads of differing opinions on the best thing to do.
We’ll see what happens.

Steve,
My initial reply was against teaming up with Qualtex to start a new network TO compete with CDSL, which would be bull if that wasn’t on their agenda. It kinda still is, although after the recent CDSL actions, I’m more inclined now to stick my nose through the door to see what could be done!
My thoughts are with a WTA or UKW or ‘X’ Company new network. Simples. I’m now looking 5yrs time, what could be? Who knows, but any comments I made previously, I still kinda stick to. No way we can take over anything tomorrow, or next year, or the year after, but with faith in the UKW & WTA circle… One day?!
And Ken is spot on when he says contract work is full of politics etc, I’ve been doing contract work for a few years now and I’m still blind to it all! What I do know now, is these are the kinda people that will take you & your wife for a curry, beers on them, food on them, have a good night, a good laugh, then as you jump in the cab, will say ‘Oh, by the way, you’re losing half your area’! And wont think twice about it!
I have a swear word in mind for these suits, but it will get censored… But you know what I’m saying Steve 🙂

Is there a firm date and venue for the DASA meeting and will we be sending anyone from the WTA to represent?

KeymasterI would have gone but, I can’t as I’m in the US presently and don’t fly back in until the 7th. It’s not possible for me to get there basically.
There is however an open invitation from DASA for any WTA member or member of UKW who is not in either to attend. So, feel free if you want to go.

^ I’m wondering the same as Bryan… If I could get away, I probably would… My first ‘Offical’ meeting as a representative from the WTA… I’d LOVE it! People from CDSL wouldn’t expect me there! 🙂

Might be pure co-incidence, but my calls this week have almost halved!
Boys will be twiddling thumbs next week! 🙁

Have any idea where it will be held?
Ken are you still on Holiday?
If so why do you keep replying to everyones questions, hasn’t Tracey thrown your lap top out of the window yet or get annoyed with you when you take work away?
You should be enjoying and relaxing and forget things back here 😆

KeymasterPeterborough AFAIK, the usual hotel that DASA uses, the Queen’s or something.
When I go on holiday these days I try to make sure that there are some creature comforts, like WiFi. 😉
Yes, still on holiday until 7th July.

Think I’ve been put on stop!!
No new jobs yesterday, woken up this morning, still 0 new! Usual weeks, we’d have had loads yesterday, and at least a few by now on a Sat!
In 3 yrs of doing CDSL work, I’ve NEVER seen a day with no new jobs! Worst I’ve seen in ‘quiet’ times is 5 or 6 new in a whole day!
So either, we have fixed everything, I’m on stop or I’m it’s DEAD out there and I’m being paranoid! 🙁
