Job booked for Monday. Customer is paying and claiming back from Currys.
If the bill comes to more than £200 she has to phone for authorisation :rotl:
Anyone want to hazard a guess to what the invoice will amount to?August 11, 2010 at 1:28 pm #323010kwatt

Message recieved via RC forum:
hi adrain
just had a intresting tel call with phil beddows from caplehe advised me i could go and visit caple at anytime to see the new training facilitys ect
i have spoken to max1 and alex and we think we should arrange a day so we can go togetther and see whats going on in the next week or so. as he is an ex enginner and feels rc are not supporting the engineers in the way caple require ( poss setup of trained engineers) to get work direct
tel me on 02392 233*** it could be worth a visit
also i will be going to wta meeting in sept but the hotel advised is full any other phone nos for local hotels as i want to be there both daysThat was from pjay (Peter Jay), he is a ‘Key’ RC agent 😉
I’ll sort his room tonight at hotel, things are definately hotting up 😀

Ok, on the above post, I’m DEFO going to visit Caple and suss it out. Do you lot want me to go as Adrian Welke, WTA Representative & hat? Otherwise I’ll wear my Beech Appliances hat?!
Caple isn’t a MASSIVE volume compared with DSGi etc, so maybe a WTA hat might fit the occasion more as the WTA could, maybe, get in with Caple with a view of a future partnership as per Amica & WTA?

Second ping I’ve got on this today. Need to think about it.
In the meantime I’ll monitor the opinion and counsel of everyone else.

My opinion is if the WTA were to facilitate the route to the engineers thats no bad thing ,but more than that I am not sure and am thinking …

I was handed Phils number recently and was meaning to give him call for some extra work.
I also had a name for some other work inspections and repairs for some power company who are prepared to pay a good rate (not sure how much work and how often)? 😀I am off on Hols this week so it will have to wait till next week.
It maybe worth dealing with this in an official capacity showing we have a network of agents around the country prepared to do the work for them.
They are only down the road from me in Avonmouth, also many builders or retailers who sell the products dont repair so a good repair opportunity that cant be missed.
We could always meet up Ade and visit and see what they have to offer. 😉

Okay. Thought a bit. Had a vodka. Thought a bit….
There’s a few key things that need to be sorta sussed out before we do anything rash. Rash is not my way, I prefer considered and, whilst this is a TA thing for the now I’d strongly advise some caution.
Given what’s gone off and going off this needs handled with a little delicacy and, I’m not just talking about RC, there’s more than that going on. Sorry, I don’t have time to explain all.
We need to know just what it is that Maurice Lay/Caple are actually after and what they really want to do.
If this is service related and, I suspect that it is, it’s likely to do with service levels and/or brand perception. The range is pretty large, all sourced product and there’s a number of concerns on that front, not insurmountable ones, but it will require consideration.
Then we need to think about systems, deliverables and cover whilst all the while taking into account the above.
Setting up the whole Amica thing has been, will we say, at times a challenge. More so as we’re having to deal with Poland as well as the UK and juggle between the two. This could be simpler in some respects but more complex in others.
It will take months to get going though, I can assure you, got that t-shirt now. 😉
I have met someone from Caple a while back, before we moved so at least a year ago, as they took the huff over some of the stuff on the site about Caple. It did reflect the brand as it was seen when the article was written but it was resolved amicably.
However, if the TA chooses to go down this road and you want me and or John to do stuff then there will be certain conditions. The primary one is that, as some of you will know, I won’t get involved if it’s not fair to all with a fair shout for all repairers. I know, I drone on about it but I don’t want, personally, for the TA or UKW to be involved in something that even remotely perceived as an “old boys club”, unfair or anything even remotely close to that sort of affair.
If you want UKW to do a load of donkey work on it, that’s fine and you can pretty much rest assured that it’d get done FOC if required. Of course there would be some sort of commercial aspect but I would again go down the whole “it has to be fair, open and transparent” route. If it isn’t, I won’t touch it with a bargepole. Many of you here will already know all this and I know I’m repeating myself but, I would rather be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} crystal clear on where I am with this sort of stuff.
Other than that, let’s get on with it then.

And this is where we may have a problem ,whilst we all understand the transparency element of it ,I wonder if others will.
We need to think very carefully about the next stage cos this could be the beginning of something good ,so the foundations need to be spot on .
Find out what there time frame is and what they expect and if needs be invite them to the Mtg.August 12, 2010 at 12:12 am #323021kwatt

Yup.
Anything like this would have to be handled with care.
When’s the “training” to take place, any idea?
One step at a time methinks. 😉

He says one day next week, but I’ll confirm more when I ring him later 🙂
Regarding a new era, the only thing ‘X’ Network will have in common with any WP is the legalities! It will obviously need a name, people to be responsible and a Management structure in place. Apart from that, this is a ‘Golden’ timeframe to introduce something the trade has not seen before 🙂
Slowly slowly catchy monkey though!

Agreed we must be careful not to be “bounced “into something just because events are happening quickly ,On another point I wonder how many RC agents are WTA members ?
