think it’s a Lancs thing Goaty
It’s the same down here in Norfolk have had no jobs from repairs@ 🙁 but have had one from directories who waved pages of UKW forum answers at me 😮 , did’nt like to tell them they were my postings 😉 .
As I only specialise in Bosch, Neff, Seimens, Maytag i guess thats probably why I don’t get any calls.
Regards

KeymasterIt does seem very area and product related as I don’t get many either, but what I do get has (so far) been pretty good work as I think there’s only been one that balked at the price.
Also bear in mind that only the referrals from the site see the module as it has not been promoted anywhere else. And, since we started tracking the figures about a month and a half ago there’s been over 400 calls successfully sent to people in Repairs@ with a lot more failed. The reason is simple for that, there’s not enough people on it yet to catch all the products in all areas. That’s why we’ve been banging on about getting people to sign up, so that there’s better coverage there. Once we get that we’ll expand the range of products as, IIRC, Dave said there was about another 50 brands to be added which should open it up even more. It also highlights the need for multiple repairers in any given postcode area as, you may well cover some stuff that nobody else does and then you get first shout at it.
There is also developement work ongoing with Repairs@ that will allow you to login and alter the brands you cover, postcodes, details and to set holidays and suchlike. Basically you can control your own work for calls routed through the module.
Once that’s all done then I have a plan… which will come as no surprise I suppose. 😉

What about Washerhelp? My stats show 268 people clicked on the repairs@ link this month 🙂

KeymasterMy apologies Andy, I forgot that totally and I’ve not been monitoring the refferers as it was eating database space. But you’re right and it’s great thanks. 😉

No problem K 🙂 I found a neat little utility called WebSiteGear that allows you to monitor clicks within a page that go to an external site. I’m sure it could be done with php or a cgi script but I haven’t found time to look into it properly as it looks fairly involved. This is simple to use, with graphs and stats (although about $6 a month.)
The trouble is that a web sites logs show every stat except how many people click an external link within a page, so this is very useful to have. For example I have an arrangement with a company who pays me a set fee each month but I had no way before of knowing how many people clicked on my links to his site. I could see how many people read the page with the link on – and he will see how many came to his site from me from his logs. But now I can see how many go there, which is great 🙂

Just a thought that this thread has brought to mind with Andy’s comments.
I wonder what would happen if we actually advertised this somewhere. A discussion for the subscribers I think first if anyone fancies a chat about it?

Well what would happen is that you’d get more jobs coming through 😀
I’ve had 3 in the last 5 days which is a fair old bit for us. They’re needed as well because it’s slim pickings right now 😕

Keymasterrepairs@ has just been moved up the agenda a little. 😉
I changed the frontpage blocks slightly to highlight repairs@ and then thought, “na, not good enough…” and proceeded to stick it right at the top of the homepage as well. If you logout back to how an unregistered member of the public sees the site then you’ll see just how prominent it is. And it seems to be working, Dave and I have noticed a definite increase in the traffic to the repairs@ module since yesterday.
If anyone else has any ideas on how to promote it further then just let us know, we’re always interested.

KeymasterOh, I forgot to tell you Craig…
I added a single little bit of blurb last week (IIRC) that reads… Quality repairs in Glasgow, Renfreshire and Ayrshire for many makes. Authorised agents for manufacturers and insurers.
Maybe actually giving a little info, no matter how small, is making a difference.

Ken, could you add Shaw, Oldham, or Oldham/Rochdale area, to my info line ?
Jim.May 23, 2006 at 10:19 pm #123803kwatt
KeymasterI had to improvise Jim, so now there’s this as a tagline…
Specialists in Hotpoint, Creda, Hoover Appliances and repairs to Most other makes in the Oldham, Shaw and Rochdale area
Hope that’s okay.

possible reapirs@ marketing idea,
you may be doing this , as i havent seen how an unregisterd user see,s UKW???..
a lot of web designers put a small advert at bottom right hand side of screen ,right next to the scroll down arrow, idea behind it is most people have constant eye contact with that part of the screen as they have to check mouse pointer is there to scroll??,
user clicks on advert by accident as mouse pointer has moved on to add instead of down arrow??, but hopefully by this time the user has read enough posts and decided they wanted repairs @ anyway…
does this make sense,, as most of ma stuff disnae
ally ??May 26, 2006 at 8:17 am #123806kwatt
KeymasterRepairs@ is now pretty heavily promoted to unregistered guests and, since I changed it the other day, there has been a marked increase in traffic to it. 😉

Log out and have a look 😉
Repairs@ is right at the top of the home page with a “Do you need an engineer” link 😀
