heres my most annoying:
1) worse thing is that its sod’s law that the most minging houses have the pump blockages.
2)say the dog wont bite and it does
3)ring you at 11.55am and ask where you are and appointment is at 12pm
4)cancel a call on you if youre on the way there and had to travel 20 miles to get there
5)make bad cups of tea
6)make a cup of tea infront of you and not offer you one
7)cry cos you cant get the part
8)offer you a cup of tea and the house is infested (at this point tea ends up poured inside of drum)
9) try and talk over you like your thick, just because i appear to look young
10) ask me “how long have you been doing this for” (im 23, look younger) not knowing i spent 2 years in north wales doing my city and guilds ect ect prior to working. so at that point i answer “1 week love, last week i was a window cleaner”π

I stopped saying yes to a cup of tea OR coffee from customers over 20 years ago. My health no longer suffers from the putrid muck most folks brew up. What killed it for me was a call all those years back when ‘The Daily’ at this posh gaff made me a cup of tea. She kept walking past me reminding me to drink it “before it gets cold!”
On the 4th time of reminding me I picked it up, it felt cold so I downed it in one, only to discover she had put 2 heaped spoonfuls of salt in it thinking it was the sugar bowl she was using!!!!!!
Take my long lasting advice…NEVER ACCEPT AN OFFER OR A CUP OF TEA It’s good advice!

You arrive at a call, customer says its not spinning π she leaves you to get on and fix it π Half an hour later you have sorted it, stuck new brushes in, put it back and its spinning away merrily
….customer dashes into the kitchen and says… “Did you manage to find out what was wrong with it then?” :con:
… John Cleese once said “…were you born a genius or do you work for The Ministry of Stating the Bl**ding Obvious?” :lol2:

Note on the door saying “Back in 5 minutes”!
Cat litter tray right next to the washing machine. Always full!
Trapped in the corner of the kitchen by little old lady whose husband died two weeks ago. Only happens on days when you are running late!
Just putting your tools away and the customer says “the girl in the office said you would look at the dishwasher while you are here”!
Customers who just stand and watch you without saying anything for an hour!
When you are at a 2 month old machine changing drum and bearings and the customer says “Are they a good machine?”!
When you are at a 2 month old machine changing drum and bearings and the customer says “Are they a good machine?” and you have to say “Oh yes we get very little bother with these”!

Or working on a Hotpile WM63 with a 95 drum AND inner drum :con:, with the customer insisting that its never had a problem before or been taken away. You carry on, knowing it’s been out to Billy the kids ranch house when they say……well they only had it a day!!!!!!

Most people keep their houses warmer than I keep my own (mine is set at 20C) so I tend to take off any jumper or fleece I’m wearing when I go to jobs at houses. This is not ideal on days when it’s about -8 outside and you find the appliance is in a shed or garage. Something I’ve noticed is generally the larger the house the more cramped your working conditions for repairing the washing machine / tumble drier.
When you are pulling out the machine and they say “Don’t worry about the lino”, are they being sincere or ironic?

…ask you to call in to their office for their key then expect a lift home with you (its a van mate, not a taxi!)
finally make the cup of coffee they offered, but they do it in the microwave with hot milk just as you close your toolbox
grab a tool from your toolbox without asking so they can do a DIY job while you’re there (sooooo annoying!)on the plus side… when you’ve had a nightmare getting the machine out from under the worktop, off the tiny blocks of wood under the feet, up and over the two layers of tiles on the floor, and managed to thread the hoses and cable through the maize of pipes and holes in the cupboards…the the lady of the house says ‘don’t worry about putting it back, i’ll get my husband to do that’ :rotfl:

Then the insurance company or the husband phones next day complaining that the engineer left the machine in the middle of the room.
We had one once where the customer offered to put it back; a few days later tried to claim for floor damage, citing that had our engineer been on site, he could have assisted and the damage would not have happened.
Don’t you just love them!!

Why when you phone someone elderly for directions do they direct you past something thats been knocked down, like “do you know where the post office used to be? – well it’s a house now…” the other one i often used to get was “well, everyone in the village knows where i am just ask someone” the fact that ive flagged down 3 people already…
As for dogs – i got sent to fix a machine in the kennel block of a dog breeder. The bloke assured me that he had put them all safely out of my way, what hed actually done is shut them in the yard – where my van was parked. Went out to get parts & got chased by a pack of basset hounds. Dont be fooled by them hush puppy ads these b*ggers were vicious, and boy can they shift – just about made it into the van & had to shout to the bloke to call them off. My biggest mistake was relaying this story to my wife – every time she sees a hush puppy ad poster or a droopy cartoon i get the p*ss taken out of me something rotten. Give me an alsation any day…
