Indeed. It’s one of the most frustrating and annoying things a customer can say to me after I’ve struggled to find them, they say, “Everyone has trouble finding us”. I always say to them, “let’s hope a doctor or ambulance never has the same trouble”. Unfortunately there isn’t a trace of sincerety in my retort. ( I can’t include the fire service – coz, they’d be able to follow the smoke.)
As for dogs …. & got chased by a pack of basset hounds.
lol. Nice one farm boy, that was a very funny image 🙂

I would still rather deal with private individuals than companies though. Yesterday I was given a pile of keys and told to go to a block of flats and plumb in 5 washing machines that were already in the flats. When I got there I could not identify the building as its name / number was not marked, none of the flat numbers were marked so I had to just keep trying keys in doors until one fitted. Of the 5 machines only one turned out to be in full working order and only 2 came with inlet hoses. I did what repairs I could in the time available but will have to go back with spares. 😡

ParticipantWhy do they never offer you a cold drink in the summer when you are doing your best to fix the that old washing machine next to the rayburn that has been wacked up to full heat for the last 12 months

KeymasterHehe, if you think that’s bad Phil try doing install work on a building site.
“Where’s plot 49?”
“Dunno mate, must be down there somewhere (rough pointing in the direction of half built housing), the stuff’ll be in the place”

Had a similar situation in Nuneaton once Ken.
Turned up on site to fit 5 plots with oven, hob and hood and when I got to plot number five I find its not there. New agent on the site seemed a bit stressed as a couple were meant to be moving in soon. Got called back next day to fit the appliances and found out that some pratt put the wrong plot number on the paperwork and also found a very relieved site agent 😀

……. or the one where you ask for the date of purchase and they give you their date of birth.
……. or the one where you ask what colour it is and they then have to go and look – even though they’ve been using it for the last 2/3/4/15 years!!!
……. or the one where you say you will visit between 9 and 1 but just happen to pop out for a pint of milk exactly the same time as you arrive – and then ring the office 15 minutes later and expect you to drive back.
Isn’t life grand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about …. you’ve lived and worked in the village of say 500 houses for 20 years. Worked on just about every house at some time or another. Customer, new resident in town, tries to explain to you how to get to the house.
Just give me the friggin house number and street name…idiot!!!Customer drops a machine off at your workshop while you are out on a call, leaves no contact details or fault description with the machine, phones you a month later and asks “Is my machine fixed yet?” ….Uh duh! Which machine is yours??
A customer calls about his machine not working just b4 christmas. I can’t fit a call in that suits him so I tell him to drop the machine inside the gate of the workshop with name and contact details inside. 2 weeks pass, find no machine at gate… ok can’t b urgent. 2 hours prior to his departure for christmas holidays, demands his machine back. I tell him it wasn’t delivered. “Oh yes it was! my sons dropped it off”
Describes the machine… I find it around the side of the workshop with scrapped machines for parts. Now he demands compensation, he wanted to take the machine to his holiday house.
Put it where I told him and it would have been fixed… in time.March 22, 2005 at 8:54 pm #107256eastlmark

Order an expensive Brandt fridge PCB using the model number off someone else’s appliance as he can’t find his own then expect me to take it back when it turns up wrong.
Moron, he even tried to pull the seven day distance selling one on me, when I pointed out that parts are supplied on the understanding that the information given to us is correct in the first place and that the seven day law doesn’t include “special orders” he soon shut up :rtfm:

When it is school holidays and you have two or three Rugrats running around you, “whats that mista’, what are doing mista’, whats this silver thing mista’ as he attempts to swallow a small socket from the toolbox, whose lid you are about to bring down swiftly on his hand, 😉
the customers who don’t tell you that someone has already “had a go” 😥
Went to a machine today and was informed, ” my dad, who knows about these things ( yeh right ) has had a go and taken one or two things out, he has put them back and has told me to tell you the timer is faulty, it is not moving round”.
Forgot to mention it was a Hotpoint WMA machine. 😯Also have to add that the only fault was a duff Hot water tap.
