ParticipantHi
I am replacing my phone next week (Nokia E71) and was wondering what most of you guys use ?
I need a calender/ Notes/ bluetooth & WiFi & a decent camera
e-mail usefull but not essential
mobile internet not neccesary as I have a dongle for my laptop
I usually have the bluetooth headpiece on & take calls to the note pad on the phone.
I have been told the Blackberry 9780 is good (Not keen on touchscreens to type on though)
Any advice/tips greatfully receivedToni

Samsung Galaxy S is my choice, Android user platform the choice to be with, knocks all the rest into touch for sure. Love it to bits, can’t live without it especially all the bl**dy pdf files (including the UKW Bible) and E/lux /Hoover/Whirlpool/Hotpoint/Bosch diagnostics stuff, GPS, etc etc etc etc etc etc….Dog danglies…..you catch my drift…. 8)

Hi Toni
I use iPhone4… It does everything you require plus more!
I think all the usual suspects do much about the same thing, so I suppose it’s down to personal preference…
But I’ll say this, when you go Apple, I don’t think you turn back! 😉

ParticipantI may moan about the iPhone 3GS but a lot of it is really due to O2. Yes when the contact expires it will be the iPhone4 on vodaphone due to 3G signal issues. The only thing is the it didn’t open up rtf. Files but does word and PDF. I find that it has problems keeping a Bluetooth connection live with my handsfree visor speaker but it worked ok when I had a bluetooth car system through the car radio.

I got an Nokia N8 6 weeks ago, Very impressed especially with the 12Mp camera and the quality of the HD video is better than my old camcorder, And you can play it back on your HD Tv with the supplied lead. Best bit is it makes and receives call as well as Nokia’s always did but one niggle is the Symbian based office suite will not support MS Access, I converted the Dbase to a spread sheet which is quite readable and also the free sat Nav works well. All in all can’t fault it!

A lot of my friends regard the Iphone as the best but I chose a Htc Desire because it beat both the Iphone and Samsung s in reviews and speed tests but dont just take my word for it have a look on tech radar or other sites .
The other problem with Iphones is you are stuck in the Apple cartel having to pay for music and so on.You can also get a HTC Desire cheaper than the other two.
You mentioned blackberrys but personally you couldn’t give me one now the keys are just to small . The new smartphones with touch screen are like mini laptops .Infact rather than fire the laptop up to surf the net I just get my phone out now.
Ive also found that I don’t take the paper to the bog anymore I just make sure i’ve got my phone. 😆March 10, 2011 at 5:13 pm #346601expertcat
ParticipantYou can put your own cds on to the iphone..Music you buy via itunes you can convert to mp3 and save to hdd or burn to disc.

Do any of these android/smartphones have software were a incoming telephone call can be recorded should I be driving etc.
Used to use a Symbian phone which worked a treat recording incoming calls but the Blackberry I use now does`nt seem to have any software avalible.
Does anybody know differently.

Driving? Haven’t you got into Bluetooth earpieces or better still a Bluetooth radio or Parrot or even voicemail?
A recorded call very often is a lost call or a waste of time call. With all or one of the above mentioned you are on hand to decide, even when driving. 8)
