Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

    Hi
Replacing the front and rear board will usually sort that fault out although you may get away with just the rear board. A 24hr defrost after replacing part/s with towels in freezer sectionmay be required.
As kwatt mentioned johnmac11 or dp are the experts in this area Im just saying what worked for my encounter with these machines and that fault 😉

As Gegsy said the rear board is the usual culprit in this case so I would fit that first. I have saw a few where it takes both boards to rectify the problem 🙁 .

    Hi again
Done a bit of digging and hopefully this may help future readers aswell.
The boards are £175 for front and £125 for back, so if you add labour to that and if both boards are gone it would cost at least £360.
An alternative cheaper option may be contact Whirlpool and purchase a year parts and labour policy, which has to be cheaper than the above no brainer if a policy costs say app £100-£150 😀

    Hi Gegsy,

That sounds like a great idea.
Can you buy the years parts and labour though and then claim on it straight away? Isn’t that a bit cheeky? 🙂

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

    Hi just a quick update….
I got Deans Ltd of Leeds (found them on this website) to come and have a look at my problem. They found that the evaporator was completely solid with ice. They defrosted the freezer and everything is ok now. They checked the seals to see if they were the cause of the problem but said they were ok. It still does the clicking about once a day for a few minutes so I suppose that I might need to get the boards replaced at some point. They charged me £50 which I thought was reasonable.

    Hi

I wonder if you could help.

I have a Whirlpool FF bought in May 2004 and its started the clicking and water pulsing problem. It’s probably been doing this for the last 3 months and is getting worse, but stops when the either freezer or fridge door is opened or the ice maker is shut.

I’ve looked through previous messages and noticed that the problem may be with the boards. Unfortunately the front board was replaced about 9 months ago by Whirlpool (cost of £160) due to the pulsating water problem and no ice!

    My model number is S20 BR SB 21 and service code 8586 151 15001 + 11 0403 023896.

Are the boards easy to replace? I’ve looked at the back at opened the bottom panel but couldn’t see the rear board.

Is there an solution to this problem?

I apologise for not including your site, I had checked but boards were not shown on whirlpool parts pages.

I have been fortunate enough to have carried out repair to board suggested by one of your contributors and found it to be successful. Fridge/freezer now back in working order and I am attepting to source a capacitor to replace the item borrowed from the ice maker.

Many thanks to those who have contributed to this thread for the assistance received and my apologise once again for my mistake re board availability.

I have now connected two replacement boards to the fridge. Its working OK however the temp lights continually flash and bleep. It seems to go through a sequence with C and d symbols and door open lights. How do I reset this? Its been connected for 12 hours now!

    Hi all,

I have read this entire topic with interest. I had a similar problem with my S25B, and changing the 4 capacitors did make a change to the behaviour – it brought the icemaker back to life but its valve is still clicking loudly and the water is pulsing as long as the icemaker is switched on and the doors are closed…

Fridge and freezer are still OK. But, I have to take the plunge and get the replacement board. However – do I need just the rear board or both rear and front boards?

    Numbers are:

    Model Number: S25BRSS31-A/G
    858616615010
    110327019833

Note that as well as the water valves pulsing, the front panel display also flashes when the icemaker is dispensing…

    Thanks!

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

    Model : S20BTSB21-A/G 858615015001 110321009065

Can someone confirm that I need to replace BOTH fron panel and rear board ?

Could someone also suggest the best place to buy them form (and by best I mean cheap 😀 )

    Thanks

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

Thanks for that, their quote is £150 .. so probably still cheaper than calling the repair people direct, and I’m covered for a further 12months.

Feel a bit quilty doing it, but I’m sure I’m not the only one…

    Thanks
