Topics merged, ( just worked out how to use the ‘merge topic’ doofer) 😀
Same topic, same title, why not just post in your original thread, that way we have a historic record of the situation. 8)

Having a few minutes to spare I had a quick read of this thread from the start in 2010. Even though it is mainly downbeat in tone its interesting to note that every single poster in this thread is still plugging away, still posting on the forum etc. 🙂
Keep the faith. 8)

Well we still have one day to go and this has been our busiest month for 3 years. Which probably means next month will be terrible, lets hope not.

Just have to admire CDSL’s latest effort to help those of us still plying this dying trade to pass the interminable hours between call-outs.
Latest update:Connect wrote:Spot the Easter Bunny Competition. We have hidden a number of chocolate Easter Bunnies in this month’s Connect Update….. count them etc. and win a microwave…
What kind of poor wretch of a business owner would be reduced to poring over this sleep-inducing publication just to find small pictures of chocolate-coloured lagomorphs? :rolls: What do they take us for?
If this was a ploy to encourage us to buy items featured in the update, then it’s been an abject failure as far as I’m concerned. 😡
I went through the whole thing with a fine-toothed comb searching for the little buggers without noticing one item for sale.

You crack me up every time Mike, I love your double entendre style. That has to be ‘Post of the Week’ in my book……keep them comin’ 😛
(I bet you can’t move for camper vans and grockles down there right now so my advice is stay indoors ’til Easter passes.)
It’s as quiet as the Titanic at the bottom of the north Atlantic this way by the way…….I’m taking up knitting to pass the time, hope you like long socks?. :clown:

People are obviously watching their money… I had 2 yes 2 refused jobs today because they would have to pay a £25 callout.

Really ! Does anyone expect to not get paid when they go to work ?
When they drive to there out of town shopping centre are these the same folks that expect the shopping centre to pay their fuel ?We all need to be savvy and stick together, if EVERYONE is charging a labour charge then they will have no option to use someone. We never talk about call out charges or estimate charges, only labour charges and to drive to their location, turn a screw and provide a diagnosis has a labour cost. I do not think we are quiet because anyone charges labour, its the general economy right now and their are a lot of business not even related to our trade who are also quiet and many going out of business daily, when the big businesses are experiencing cutting shops, staff and offering bigger discounts its a marker for all of us. People are hanging onto their money and spending more wisely is my view. We can only hope that people start thinking Make do and Mend !

Agreed, very fast either at home or out on the road as I am now using a 3G connection. With both phone and iPad.
