Sunny? Wet & windy here 🙁 Happened to look at the temperature display in the van at about 11.00 this morning, 11 degrees. A week ago at the same time it was 27 degrees but I was too busy to enjoy it. This week there’s no work but the weather has turned horrible 😥

I’d have to say that the phones, in general, have been very quiet this week.
It’s the same story all over, even outside this industry from what I can gather.
Martin was correct in many ways with his assessment, it’s a combination of things on top of a traditional lull at this time of the year. He was also correct in that there is little choice but to ride it out as best you can.
It will likely last until the schools go back at the end of their holidays when it will probably start to pick up again although hopefully not just as quiet as it is at the moment.
If it’s any consolation, as I monitor a few bits and bobs, net traffic is down in general bar the odd blip as well. This would suggest a general slowdown all round as well so I expect it’s not specific to us, it’s just one of those things. It’s also notable that there’s usually a slowdown at this time according to my historic data.
People are more interested in holidays right now than much of anything else and holidays eat cash as does amusing the kids when they’re not in school.

You saying you go out to customers using your fuel + adding mileage to ur vehicle, your time, and you give FREE estimates/diagnosing?
I did “briefly” when i started up in this town, however i now fully refuse to waste my fuel, would rather sit in the house playing snap than go running around wasting fuel.

I was away in the wilds of the west midlands last weekend and didn’t spot this. Thank you for your comments there Ken. 😀

Right now, mid July it’s silly season and everyone it seems is going on holiday down here? Last minute desperate phone calls wanting to know if I can possible perform same day miracles as everyone seems to be “…..going on holiday tomorrow and I would like my washing machine fixed before I go to the airport!”
The kids break up school this week so we’re guaranteed a quite fortnight at least until they come back from Majorca then try to do some washing?
The scorching hot weather during Wimbledon fortnight brought out the fridge problems but since the weathers gone belly up that side of the trade it’s staying cool to freezing! 🙁

To set the record straight I dont do free estimates, I charge £15 which is not a lot but then I am trying to encourage people to consider a repair before buying a new one.
