when i split the tub i found the tub seal doesen`t look like the ones shown in any of the spares places. its basicly just a big blue rubber band , about 5mm wide with a groove in it.
has anyone come across these before for this model?
also does anyone know where i can get the small hex head screws ( some silver some brass coloured)that are used to fix the front and rear panels in place? i dont even know the proper name for them. any help would be much appreciated! 😕January 17, 2011 at 7:41 am #341329Phidom

I always re-use the original with a bead of silicone sealant to make sure it seals. If you know anywhere locally that does reconditioned machines you should be able to scrounge some screws. If you can’t get any you can send me a PM and I could post some to you.

Hi
The groove is formed when the 2 halves of the tub are screwed toogether,

At the bottom of every post there is a PM button, click on that for the person you want to contact and all will be revealed. 😉

It will stay in your outbox until the recipient actually reads it. 😉

hi again
i managed to get the old bearings out without to much trouble with a hammer and punch.
the recesses on the metal bearing receiver thing that is part of the outer drum half seem in good nick,eg. smooth shiny metalbut there is a space between where the inner and outer bearings sit which is corroded a .will thisprevent me from installing new bearings?from what i can tell the spiders shaft sits on the two bearings and doesn`t touch the rusted bits when it is spinning.. is this correct?
what is the channel /space between the inner and outer bearings for?
is it there to allow you to knock the old ones out?
any advice woul be much appreciated.January 19, 2011 at 4:04 pm #341339Martin

It’s just a space, a necessary gap based on the torque requirements of the construction and nothing more. Just clean it up as best you can anyway and smear a little high melting point grease within the cavity prior to installing the new bearings.

just two more questions (for now) 🙂 – when i knocked these bearings out there were 2 bearings and a seal but the kit on ukw has two bearings and two seals, where does the other one go?
also do you think i could get away with re-using the original spider, it s not in bad nick, not particularly corroded but i thought i would just see if the old bearings would go back on it, the larger one will but the smaller one wont go on at all. could this be because the`ve gone out of shape with all the smacking with a hammer and punch? there is some light speckly rust on the shaft. i don`t think i damaged the shaft end because i used a peice of three by two and a lump hammer to knock it out of the old bearings, it was not easy to get out of the old bearings. it would be nice if i didn`t have to fork out for a new spider but if i have to i`ll have to!January 21, 2011 at 6:16 pm #341342stryder
