Re: Zanussi Aquacycle 1200 not heating

Thank you for the reply. I had to put the machine back together ( still not heating ) but I will have another go at it soon.
I was beginning to think as the water levels were OK that the pressure switch was unlikely to be the problem. Is the heater switch independent inside the pressure switch?
My other thought was the controller might think the water is always at the correct temperature. As the temperature sensor ( thermostat ) is new I traced the wiring back to the control PCB with my multimeter and there were no problems. I opened up the control unit and 1) there was a lot of carbon around the power section, bottom left 2) tracing the temperature sensor input, resistor R101 appeared to be missing/never fitted maybe designed this way but it did appear to be in series with the sensor.
Anyway back together now, fully working except not heating water. I’ll try blowing down the tube soon.
    Thanks again, Dave

Thank you for a helpful reply Don.
It looks like it will be a Bosch then but I will write to Hotpoint.

Thanks spimps. A process of elimination led me to the defrost timer. Luckily a fairly simple mechanical device rather than a modern pcb. It wasn’t rotating so I replaced it. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I can test for open short circuits if I know what resistances I should be looking for but if it is the pcb it will have to be an engineer, or as it is quite old, one to give up on.

    Re: Hotpoint WD860P F-03

Thanks, I think I had come to the conclusion it was the board but needed confirmation from an expert.

As it is about 4 years old I’ll take your advice, replace everything as found and call an engineer.

My main worry was paying the £99 and having a repeat in a years time.

    Thanks again.
