The element on and off is controlled by the thermostat and, if that were faulty, you’re right it shouldn’t click on/off normally.
It actually sounds as if it’s been wired incorrectly and that the element is getting a constant feed.

Hi Thanks for your reply.
There was only two wires which on the element I took off, and when I put it back I think they went back on the same way round but I didn’t think it mattered which way they went.
I have rang baumatic and they seem to think that its the thermostat and control unit which all comes in one, they said thats all it can be as there is nothing else like relays involed.
So fingers crossed. 😕September 30, 2007 at 2:16 pm in reply to: I can’t find a 1500w element for my Baumatic cooker #229032adwozere

ParticipantRe: Has any one got a LG steam washing machine
Hi
I just got a reply from LG after 8 days of them thinking about it!! :
Further to your query,This matter was passed to the factory and they have clarified the following; To clarify what “detecting” means. The machine relys on fuzzy logic to assess what type of load is in the machine. This means it measures the water absorbency of the load, then adjusts water levels and wash time depending on the load. This also means that you may see the time remaining jump from 1hr25 to 55mins,for example. This is normal. The wash times are infinitely variable. When the machine says it is “detecting”, it is sensing the load type and not the quantity. The 8kg you see is just the machine wash capacity.
So at the end of the day, after being told by 3 different people at LG by phone and email there is a problem with the machine , IN FACT there is NO problem with my machine :rolls: :rolls: :rolls: 😕 🙁 😡 🙂adwozere

I’ve emailed LG again and this time they come back and asked me what programs it happens on, which was;
when you start the machine on:
Baby Care
Cotton
Synthetic
It comes up ‘DETECTING’ on the display, the drum turns for about 5 seconds then in the top left hand corner of the display it flashes up 8KG.when you start the machine on:
Delicate
Hand wash/Wool
Duvet
Quick 30
It comes up ‘WASHING’ on the display. They replyed with:
This has been passed on to 2nd level technical support and when we get a reply from them we will be back in touch. So it looks like LG don’t know how there machines work!!!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆
