ParticipantHi Dave, thanks for your reply.
The small plastic hook on the bottom end of the latch that attaches to the spring had snapped off. I reattached the spring to the latch with some strong but fine wire that didn’t interefere with the movement of the latch, ensuring the spring was still in tension. The latch moves up and down and the action of opening and closing the door has the same ‘feel’ as before.

Thanks Dave. Yes, it’s 22 years old! 😛 Just working out whether it’s worth repairing…. Is there much difference in quality or would the no gen part be good enough, and how long should it take an engineer to replace it?

Thank you for your reply Dave. I have taken the back off and can see it is wet underneath a part towards the front of the machine on the rhs looking from the back. I have taken a photograph of it, but can’t see how to upload it 🙁

Oh dear, this is embarrassing 😳 – have just discovered my daughter used the machine and is missing a bra wire…. :rolls:
so looks like I have found the problem! Only thing now is what do I do about it? Is there a way of getting it out myself or should I call an engineer? Thanks for your advice.AEGowner

No, it looks completely normal.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMT01 mystery leak
Thank you iadom for your reply. No, the drum is not at all noisy when spun by hand. The time before last that it was used, it made a lot of noise whilst spinning the washing at the end, but last time it was used when the leak was noticed it was normal, and setting it to spin now whilst empty it is normal too.

Actually, I was wrong – the freezer part does still seem to be working , only the fridge part has a problem. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks for all the advice. It is much appreciated.
By chance, I just spotted a really cheap deal on this entry level Bosch SMS50C02GB.
How do you rate it?

Maybe I should just get a new mobile phone instead! lol
Out of interest, which would be the least expensive dishwasher that you actually could recommend?

ParticipantRe: Dishwasher quandary
The only other options in the “boost” event are:
Russell Hobbs RHDW2
Sharp QW-S221472W
Sharp QW-S221472WAre they any better?

ParticipantRe: Dishwasher quandary
Many thanks for all your replies.
So there is basically no difference between them, and price difference is not an indicator of quality?
Is it actually worth me exchanging vouchers for any of them then or will I live to regret it? If it wasn’t for the “Boost” event I wouldn’t have considered them, but since it makes them half price I am tempted. What do you recommend?
Thank you 🙂

Thank you for your reply, Dave. 🙂
By non-electronic, I was referring to the first 3 machines having no electronic or LED display – unlike the last 2 that display information on options chosen and time etc. Would they be more likely to develop faults?
The price range is from £209 to £379, so do you really get what you pay for or are they much the same in that range?
Thanks for the useful tip about the socket position – my socket actually is behind the machine at the moment! :/
