Good old Fordingbridge, used to live there.

I noticed an earlier posting where someone mentioned Clistome Farm, there is a Clitsome View as well, in Roadwater, Somerset.

The number and price is the same, no matter whether heart of London, or in sheep country.

Tried just now, had recorded message open 9 to 5 mon/friday. That’s not like D&G who are open all hours. We have had the odd one through CDSL, but few & far between.

It is when the kiddie answers the phone & you ask if Mum is there.

Then right in your ear……. MUUUUM! THERE’S SOMEONE ON THE PHONE!

    Re: Members list

I think there ought to be total transparency on this.

Why not have companies who are members listed? I cannot see how poaching will come into this for example. Moreover a list of well known names and showing some quality as well as quantity among the membership could become an asset.

If you go that way, I have no problem

    Agreed..

I went wappy at DASA regards their poor commmunication, and I have to say I haven’t seen a lot regards the inaugral meeting, and I’m a member of the TA.

I gather DASA sent a representative who addressed the meeting, and I can find no record of that either.

We use the old formula 746 watts = 1 horsepower. Look at the rating plate, take off 25w for the lamp, plus another 25w per heater and you won’t be far out.

    Sands of time running out?

How far away is the date of default? Assuming he does, can I assume you will seek reposession of goods & chattels to go towards the debt.

You can guess that most goods and assets such as cars, the plasma telly etc. will be owned by Bridie or his Ltd company. He may not have covered his tracks, but you can bet your sweet bippy he has a cunning plan.

    Best of luck

NOT a slagging session but canvassing opinion ?
    Lawrence

Yes there is food for thought in that statement.

No need to make it too embracing, but would be a change for us to nominate the members of this industry that we individually feel work with us. Some will say so-and-so are brilliant, but another will say they are the worst.

Shall we ask on:- Work Providers, Parts Suppliers, Tech Support Operatives/Individuals, Service Managers, Manufacturers, Web-sites for Tech Support.

No need for chapter & verse. Let’s make this positive, and no slagging off for a change. Will make the job hard I know, but why not post & give credit where credit is due. Those that don’t get the credit should be conspicuous by absence.

Talking outside of the manufacturers agency work I do. I will nominate…

Individuals:- Ken Watt, for the tireless hours. David Parker, he does try and work with us, better than most. Sean Delaney, he has been beating the drum and driving all over the country in support of UKW and ISE.

Work providers:- In my case Connect, Iv’e seen these types come & go, and despite lots of negative posts, I have no real issues, and they do listen.

Manufacturers,:- I have to be biased here as I get the best support from those I work with, and cannot speak for those whom I do not. Electrolux Group & Beko.

Technical Support operatives. Jim from Rangemaster, and possibly several others whom I can’t remember.

Web-sites offereing support. Difficult to say as I’m rather insular and apart from the manufacturers I deal with, the Connect site gives me most of the help I need.

Over to the rest of you…………

    K.

Thanks for that, I was so looking forward to the weekend.

You forgot to mention my mate Manoj, he fitted in nicely with that lot, birds of a feather and all that.

I wonder how long they will be with Connect, or will Roy follow the move he took with L.G. We live in hope.

Shame really, good image regards the product, and now we invoice through a managment company most problems have evaporated as Connect have to take ownership.

They are a bit like having AOL on your computer, impossible to get rid of, and everytime you think you have, they come back and bite you in the backside.

I hate to say this but they are making the nails to drive in their own coffins.

Unlike an earlier posting I do all my banking and credit card transactions on line. Most of the work we now do for companies are by EDI and I pay them by electronic transfer.

I pay all PAYE and VAT on-line, wages/payroll all on line. Cheques received from customers are taken into the bank, most are paying by credit card. The fax machine is getting a little more use now, and we are surviving nicely. Any companies I need to pay, all they need give me are the bank details and I will do the rest.

The point is we are all finding ways round it to suit ourselves, and if it does work for us, we will probably expand upon it and indeed exploit the technology even further. That will mean less work for the jolly old postman and even higher job cuts.

Look what happened to the miners, this looks like turkeys voting for Christmas twice a year.

    Re: ABUSIVE CUSTOMERS

    They beggar belief at times.

Try & get a dentist for a raging toothache, and you may have to wait 2 weeks, a hospital apppointment may take up to 2 years. Try and tell a customer that we can call tomorrow to look at a dishwasher, and you get a torrent of abuse.

If a customer Eff’s & Jeffs to us on the phone, we tell them to calm down or we will end the conversation. If howerver he or she (as becoming the norm) Effs & Jeffs about the machine/retailer, but is civil on the phone with us, and prepared to work with us, we take little notice. In fact we are sharing and aware of the frustration that is with the product, not in our efforts in reaching a solution. When they say “This thing is effing rubbish”, we do not take that as abusive.

When they get personal or offensive, then they get nowhere. If we get a real abusive one we put them on speaker and tell the customer the whole office is now listening to their ranting. If it is really bad, we won’t deal with them until there is an apology. That includes in guarantee and insurance work.

We have refused to attend some calls on a health & safety matter where there is a risk of abuse, and engineers have walked off site if met with a compromising situation.

One guy confronted the engineer in the road outside his house, and asked him why he did not bring a manager with him as his call required special attention, (Beko cooker on D&G Ins.) Engineer who was a specialist with 20 years experience explained he could fix it on his own, customer told him to Eff off. So he did. That was beginning of December 2003, 1 week before Christmas we were getting phone calls from D&G, who agreed with our actions, and the Friday before that Christmas his Mrs phoned up begging us to call, needelss to say we didn’t.

It is getting worse now, and people cannot see we are trying to help. Without being sexist, and I don’t know why? we are finding lately the women are the worst. I’ve spent my life around women, 2 daughters (who can tell a dirty joke better than I can), and the cat is female; yet to hear such abuse at times from customers disappoints and saddens me.

    Cheeky gits .

I hate Comet with a vengeance. They agressively took the Lux Group work on goods they sell, and yet refused to call on products that were away from the motorway corridor. We then get requests from Lux or Beko to attend their cock-ups

I’ve had “stand-up” arguments with Hull regards who should repair what, and as from 5th Sept they took on all the warranty work for all products. My sentiments are they said they can do it, then get on with it.

Have you copywrited the error code book as I’m sure they will get it through the back door and plagurise it.

    They make me seethe
