The website now appears to be under the control of NAC and some sort of portal to them.

I have removed as many links to it as I can from here but if anyone comes across any please let me know and I’ll remove them. I don’t want people to be sent to that website under false pretences that it’s some sort of an “official” or endorsed site.

Bit of digging, and a familiar mug shot appeared.

    Jim.

Hi Jim. The Mossley one moved down south to escape abuse, less said the better. Still have one in Hyde and that was the one with the F/F. Regards Eldar, son-in-law phoned Liebherr, they sent him to Eldar, he phoned Eldar who suggested will be a system fault and they no longer carry out system work?! All that was wrong was a frozen up freezer evaporator, basic fundamental stuff. Sorted with a hand-held steamer. Have a feeling Eldar under new management yet again, or poorly trained receptionist. Steve Burns no longer DASA? He was one of the few who were passionate about the old organisation.

Anyway, move on, retired and as always lots to do. Stay well & nice to hear from you.

Tony posts a lot about these type of fridges so try send him a pm and see if he can help

as for the valves I would expect them to have an extenal solenoid which can fail

    Dave

Dave, thanks for getting back to me. Nice to re-visit this dear old site and catch up on some gossip.

Just spoken to someone from the good old Liebherr days, no solenoid coil on that model, probably ice inside the freezer back wall restricting air flow to the top cabinet. So son-in-law is now embarking an a full defrost, and have a feeling will solve it.

He decided to join Brit Gas (excuse me whilst I spit on the floor) with their repair/protect policy and if no fix, no charge. Guy rocked up, sucked between his teeth, said will be the diverter valve and he’s not a systems engineer. Fortunately BG haven’t taken the money and assured there will be no charge.

Son-in-law tried D&G, they didn’t want to know! Phoned Liebherr gave him the name of a company in Burnley, he phoned them, they quoted an inspection fee but advised if means breaking into the system, they won’t be able to help. They’re supposed to be the appointed agent!! Up until that point son-in-law was convinced (thanks to BG engineer) there was an in-built solenoid. So, one engineer and the appointed Liebherr agent failed to consider might be an easy fix. Seems like people cannot be arsed.

lift the lid and stat is plugged into a multi connecter

you may be able to unplug it and gain a bit of wire

never had to turn it upside down thats a new approach lol

    Dave

Didn’t attempt to turn the dryer upside-down, that was me trying to look up and see everything inverted thanks to the mirror. Relaxing the loom makes sense though.

    Jim.

Used to, moved to Grotton then Greenfield now nearer home for reasons best not discussed on here.

What a performance to gain access to that stat. Upside down with a mirror, confirmed open circuit and about to order. Wiring disappeared inside as was tight as a banjo string, will hook it out on my return, if not drum out; after all got plenty of time.

This year it’s been 10 years since retirement, don’t bloody miss it at all; plus the way Service force has gone looks like I dodged the bullet.

Hope you’re well Jim. What about Martin another old stager, does he come in from time to time?

Okay, has any one got any up to date news on DASA, I know the last surviving member in Northants ‘FTS’ are no longer around, I have been told they were bumped out by Lux. Though my informant was not too sure.

I have looked at their FB site, huh last one I have seen posted there was two years ago at least.

I am sure Burnsie if he is still around will jump at the opportunity to promote this outdated and what appears to be a non existent Association.

Oldtog (I will also answer to the name of Flook)

    Dave.

As per normal you’ve got it wrong!! Same as when I sold my business and retired you unofficially told the entire DASA membership and those on the mailing-list that I had retired, but you done so before the transfer of business was completed and actually caused some embarrassment as well as unnecessary concern to those who supplied work to us.

Electrolux has had a huge restructure, some of which appears questionable; but as regards Northants this was a different deal between neighbouring Service Force agents.

Can dates be set in the UK format, not the American? For example today is 8-11-2018 not 11-8-2018.

Re: Another Service Force agent goes to the Wall

I can only go by what I’ve picked up second hand. They have been sending managers round in suits and getting NDAs signed. Some centres are to remain as hubs and smaller centres will report to them. Some big long-standing centres have 6 Months notice and of course some will become the “chosen hub”.

Areas where agents have been given the chop include the South Coast, Midlands, and a chunk of Yorkshire.

I’m so pleased I was able to sell mine as a going concern; otherwise I would have had the rug pulled out after what seemed a lifetime, then left with staff looking for work – which would be MY problem.

north hants, surrey experienced service engineer req

by andywarwick ยป Sun Apr 07, 2013 6:13 pm

Due to retirement we require an experienced field service engineer.

We are located in north hants covering gu, rg, sp postcodes.

Van, phone , uniform supplied and full manufacture training.

    Please send cv to jason@aztechservices.co.uk

andywarwick wrote:Thanks to my ex Service Force colleague who notified me about my post.

This was not generated by myself and I suspect there has been an administration/software error with ukWhitegoods.

I sold out to 2 of my managers who lasted 3 years and then had to call the receivers in- like most Directors who fail they blamed everyone else except themselves!

If there are any Service Force agents out there who did know me: a big hello from myself. I retired in 2010 and got bored of daytime television so am now working in the air-conditioning industry (3 days a week). andy@coolprojects.co.uk

Phew it’s getting worse for Service Force agents. Haven’t been here for a while but someone earlier today suggested worth a look.

Some of the casualties I hear are the larger ones and long-standing.

    Re: Demise of Serviceforce agents

Looks like I got out of it alive then!

What the hell’s going on with Service Force? I know they have passed some patches over to Pacifica due to “natural wastage” but reading between the lines they have got the big stick out.

Unlike Andy Warwick above, I haven’t fallen into the trap of “Day-Time” television but moreover haven’t looked for new challenges. I’m happy as I am – every day is a Saturday!

Ken asked “Who’s buying agencies”? I suspect no one, after all some of us remember the big purge in 1996 and there were some big casualties who got nothing except the added task of sorting out redundancies.

I’ll try not to sound smug however as I feel for any victims in this, they were valued colleagues and good friends. I was proud to be a Service Force agent and always thought they set the standards for others to follow.

    Re: Electrolux

Kevin Wheeler was the National Service Manager for Service Force, the Electrolux service division. Took over from Steve Clarke who is now at Beko via BSH.

Kevin has now moved to the Commercial Division of Electrolux, however I cannot update upon his replacement (out of the loop).

Thing is though, what is the query? Seems a bit of a non-question to me!

    Re: JTM struggling?

Phew! I remember the days as a Zanussi Agent (Morphed into Service Force) the standards expected and the hoops we had to jump through to have the privilege to be said agent. Don’t regret a bit of it though, kept us on our toes, helped remove the jeans/trainers engineers of the past and in my case dragged me into the image conscious 1980’s.

I wonder how the criteria can be managed and policed by Lux/SF when the direct repairers are disconnected from overall control? Surely a foregone conclusion that each call costs them more than the standard in-guarantee rate.

Contrary to the above posting, I don’t think Lux even offered the areas to existing agents, but what do I know, been out of it over three years.

    Re: A Great Loss

I will reiterate what everyone has said. Like Sean Delaney I was there at the first meeting ever held in a Premier Inn at Peterborough and met John for the very first time.

He had that lovely lilting Scottish tone and you didn’t need sub-titles. He was in no way pretentious a good listener and above all excellent company.

    Sad indeed.
