    Re: Questions

I realise that this may be difficult to answer Ken but approx what sort of retail price would an order of 5000 machines make viable using the 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} markup figure?

With regard to the other matter I suppose we shall have to wait until all is revealed and see what degree of difference in price is involved between ‘x’ and the standard model.

Hi Mike – have a look here

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … hlight=f12

Under certain circumstances the data in eeproms can be corrupted and this is a possibility having eliminated bad connections as the possible fault.

If this is the case Tony at EMW can possibly help you out.

Thanks for that degree of candidness Ken without actually letting the cat out of the bag.

But that’s not to say that we are ignoring the question. The answer is that, yes, we have seen it in limited retailers in the UK now sadly and there’s not a lot we can do about that. The only good thing is that it’s not so easy to find.

The question here is that do we

    (a) sell this appliance without being ‘up front’ that it can be sourced elsewhere (cheaper?) and risking a customer seeing the alternative machine and being upset.

    (b) Be honest about it and rely on the strength of the benefits offered to make the sale.

Personally i would only be willing to make a sale under option (b) because it is the right thing to do (I would’nt like to be decieved), and its not worth risking losing a valued customer.

Having said that it might limit the amount of potential sales initially which has the knock on effect of making bigger volume orders harder to attain.

    Re: Questions

I don’t think anyone is going to give you an answer Andy but I agree it’s a very important question.

My biggest concern is the proposed cost of ‘X’ at £400 it is not cheap and there is going to have to be some very strong selling features to persuade a prospective customer to buy at this price. This especially applies if the machine is based upon a modified production model that is readily recognizable in the shops and there is a substancial price difference. This seems to be implied in the spec where it is noted that the case design is the manufacturers.

I don’t wish to appear negative, as i am not but this does concern me.

    Re: Indesit board connections

yep it is the thermistor circuit. At 20degC you should find about 20Kohm across it. It is more than likely a bad connection on the IDC plug. A good way to check the complete circuit is to measure across the module plug pins 1 & 2 on CNB for continuity.

Yep – we always assume that ‘trade suppliers’ are going to be cheaper. But sometimes we are getting ripped off and this is a prime example.

John – When the timer knob rotates you should get a light flashing on the panel. It flashes in groups with about a 10sec pause between. Count the flashes in a group and this is the error code.

Top of the range is the Premium Touch washing machine, which uses state-of-the-art technology to wash your clothes. It features the first touch-screen control panel ever on a washing machine, an electronic detergent drawer and jet wash system, but remains incredibly simple to use. You can even save your own washing program, for ease of use in the future.

Beneath the modern, clean cut lines of the machine is the Wash Wizard system, which decides, based on the weight and type of laundry, as well as how dirty it is, how best to wash it, measuring the precise quantities of detergent and water into the illuminated drum. Water purity, the amount of foam and the cleanliness of the laundry are constantly measured by the system.

They also employ an intelligent measurement system that only uses the minimum amount of detergent and water necessary for the cycle – saving detergent, the most expensive material in washing, and water, as well as being friendly to the environment.

    Phew!

After reading this thread I am glad that apart from the odd venture into extended warranty work I have stuck to the ‘little old me’ + van approach. The customers can provide enough headaches at times without the hassle you guys have. 😉

Having said that it is a very interesting and illuminating thread and I am sure that it will make people much more aware of the pitfalls that can be encountered on what might on the surface appear to be an attractive venture.

    Bob

I have found that the three following configurations will fit most of the single built in ovens which most customers now seem to have. These are

    Scale (1) – 20 to 250deg (temp) with rotation of 0 – 270deg
    Scale (2) – 20 to 250deg (temp) with rotation of 0 – 310deg
    Scale (3) – 50 to 320deg (temp) with a rotation of 0 to 310deg.

Most use a 6mm “D” spindle 25mm long – (Flat to the top when off) and M4 X 28mm fixing lugs.

Scale (2) seems to be predominant on continental ovens.

Many suppliers will give the temp range in thier spec and sometimes an e.g.o number.

If this begins 55.13 or 55.18 or 55.19 then it is an 0 to 310 deg rotation.

If 55.17 then it is an 0 to 270deg rotation

If you can source a cheap (£5 – £6) scale (1) and (2) these will fit most ovens in my experience and any small differences in temp limits are irrelevent over the range in actual use.

A little birdie told me that the Navy use Miele washers on the ships because they are so reliable (not sure if it was merchant or royal).

    True or false?
