Diplomat APM8702 – Drum stops turning

by deemacperth ยป Sat Jul 23, 2011 10:25 am

Are you sure that it only affect drum rotation in one direction?

A faulty capacitor would normally affect rotation in both directions but apart from that it is almost certain to be the problem especially as it gets worse with a heavier load.

Hi – the drum struggling to turn under load is symptomatic of a defective start capacitor (usually found at the rear top R/H corner of the m/c near the mains filter which looks similar). The capacitor on this is 22mF and can be found in the store for ยฃ7.27. Worth a try at this price.

Re: Candy CMD146 problems, and more problems….

The parts breakdown for this model show a Motorized selector s/w 22 settings PN 41003735. I have changed a few of these myself (machine won’t start)

Usually around ยฃ10 – ยฃ15 + VAT so not so bad to try in. If the board checks out ok then this is the likely culprit.

Assume you have checked if the machine is level and not leaning forward?

You could try packing it up at the front to run the water towards the rear of the dispenser (assuming the outlet is at the back).

Also is the SD hose completely clear? Some machines have a “u” bend shape hose and can become blocked or restricted with undissolved powder

If its just a spare that you are after the online shop gives exploded diagrams and part numbers. Quite handy.

    Re: Free Estimate.

I agree very much with Ken. As the saying goes; what goes round, comes round. If you help people where you can it eventually pays off.

If it does not cost me anything then why worry, so although i would never make a visit to someones home for free i will help them over the phone if its something i think they can sort themselves.

For instance if someones washer is filling with dirty water I will instruct them how to prevent the water from the sink from entering the machine. Or check the timer is on manual if their oven does not work. Customer phones up saying “I cannot believe that you helped me for free, thank you so much! This is now a customer for life AND they can’t wait to tell thier friends and relatives. Why because they now TRUST you!

OK there are some who will say that this is crazy and i am losing money but I have not advertised for 22 years (apart from a free one that mysteriously appeared in the phone book) and i have never been short of work while over the years many others have come and gone.

IMO its all about trust. People are generally scared stiff that someone is going to rip them off bigtime, especially older people. If they feel that they can trust you, will be the one who benefits in the long term.

Its simple really, just treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.

That is the question to be or not to be !

Sorry for going off topic, but i just thought the point was worth making.

In answer to your question – definately not – never have – never will.

    Re: Weird Hotpoint WMA fault???

Hi Jim – there is obviously no problem with the triac as it works OK before the intermediate spin which seems to produce the error. Maybe the location in the eeprom that holds the reference data for this spin speed is corrupted and the tacho speed appears to the processor to be excessive on comparison. It therefore decides that the motor is out of control.

This might possibly be rectified by reprogramming the board if you have the button sequences for this model, worth a try.

There ain’t many things that are free in this life and those that are probably ain’t worth having in the first place:

If you give this some serious thought, you will realise that all the best things in life really are free.

The problem is that most of the time we do not appreciate and value these things. It is only when we are in danger of losing them that their true value becomes apparant.
