Thanks K, it seems strange that it couldn’t be fixed, and it’s on such an old machine, and there’s no safety notice if true.

I would have expected safety glass to be unable to shatter into daggers and shards. I thought the entire point of safety glass is that it will only break into small blunt pieces.

There maybe some, but I have plenty of photos sent to me showing large dagger-like shards of glass and lots of small pointed shards.

Oven glass is safety glass, shatters into nice blunt squares. As far as I’m aware though washing machine door glass is not, and shatters into very sharp shards.

Andy Trigg came up with this article so it would be interesting to learn of his findings.

I’ve written a new article trying to summarise everything in a balanced, responsible non sensationalist way. It’s understandable that media would find this worth reporting but they hadn’t picked up on the fact that the 53 incidents so far have been reported over 2 and a half years so it’s still presumably very rare. However, there have been 15 reports of the glass exploding when not even on, which adds a different dimension to the issue. Also, the second highest reports so far are on Miele washing machines so unless Miele have been caught out thinking they can get away with cost savings it sort of implies it’s not necessarily down to cheap rubbish machines alone.

Also, the cases have been reported since 2010 (not 2008) My original article about a washing machine door falling onto a tiled floor when a small child fell against it in 2008 started to attract exploding door glass comments in 2010

Hi ally. Trying to appear local is an old issue, people have always done it in yellow Pages and even local paper ads. Your concern is the same as the one I pointed out though, people with the money employing experts to get them to appear in the rankings shouldering out the genuine independent.

It’s not difficult to imagine that sooner or later, all the guys with the big money will dominate most search results and even further cream off the work. These people have more money to invest in SEO than most repairers earn in 10 years.

I had a lot of respect for Hoover’s A3058 800 spin, extremely simple, cruzet timer with old style reliable timer motors on. Pretty reliable and lasted a long time.

Why would they want to do that? I personally wouldn’t call anyone under a no fix no fee arrangement though clearly lots of ignorant consumers love it.

That is pretty shocking. He clearly didn’t expect the machine to start up when he shut the door.

That’s circumstantial evidence 😉 Couldn’t stand up in court on its own.

To be fair, that should say, “he says he hasn’t stolen anything with intent”.

Yep that’s a few more more possibilities K. I’m just saying I don’t like to make judgements based on assumptions or circumstantial evidence.
