    Re: WEEE

    Thanks for the reply Andy.

I’ll get on to council again to try and make sure that the local tip is a DCF.

    (2) Return – You have the right to return the weee to a DCF free of charge.

So does this include your ‘Local Civic Amenity’ (i.e. the tip!) which is registered as a DCF? At present ours still charge £25 for any commercial vehicle that drops waste there.

andy2 wrote:(4) Record Keeping – (a) Keep records of information provided (the simplest solution is to keep a signed duplicate of the info that you provide with name, address, date and signature. (b) Keep records of the numbers of weee that you receive from buyers. (c) Keep records of the number of weee that you return to DCF’s. (d) Keep all records for four years from the date the record was made.

I’d assume that you would also need to be a registered carrier of controlled waste and that the ‘Duty of care: waster transfer note WMC1’ would suffice as the records of the WEEE you transported.

Like squadman said, trying to get info out of your local authority is like getting blood from a stone. Nobody can give you a definitive answer.

We did sign up for the Valpak DTS scheme as at least that gives us 3 years grace of being able to just point customers towards the local tip. However being able to remove old appliances, after installing new, is a service we want to keep; so it is important that we make sure we are complying with all the WEEE regs.

Is this pdf file for the interlock you are referring to?

Was quite handy for us as at first we thought Homespare were sending us the wrong part 😉

It was indeed a Hoover engineer that it happened to, IIRC in Wales (what is it with you lot? ;)), over a busted machine and the non-appearance of a free flight.

This definitely happened in Cumbria too.

I don’t know if he got his free flight though 😉

I’m not one of shop’s engineers and I didn’t have a detailed knowledge of detergents; so I jumped at the chance to receive the free P&G training. Our engineers didn’t mind having their knowledge topped up too 😉

As some of the other guys have said it is nice to be able to explain to customers how to get the best results from their washers/dishwashers. To have all the info a leaflet is a god send when they don’t believe you 😀

We had the bloke from P&G round our shop last month and we all found the training very interesting.

You get the run down of how washing/dishwashing detergent actually works in the machine. This was all new to me and I hadn’t realised what a complicated bit of kit washing detergent is!

Then there was the usual lecture on what detergent to use for what clothes; a reminder to always follow the washing label; and example garments to show what happens when the label isn’t followed.

We got given booklets with all the info from the training, a few boxes of liqui-tabs and some Ariel pens 😉

It’s only lasts 40 minutes, it is informative and free. I’d say go for it.

    Re: Connect

What the verdict on these guys as suppliers?

Never heard of them until a rep visited us last week. Not so much interested in them for spares, more small appliances like vacs, kettles etc. What are they like for deliveries and, more importantly, returns of faulty stock?

I have to admit this thread doesn’t make Connect sound too promising, but I look forward to your opinions.

    Cheers 😀

    Whirlpool ARC0170

46cm wide and has a 4* freezer box.

D.A.D and Portway both sell them.

    Re: BEKO DE3542FW Dishwasher

Is the start button on this machine one that will also stop/cancel the program when it is held in?

I know this sounds to simple to be the problem, but it could be that your customer is pressing the start button for too long! We have had the exact same problem with a Beko WMA510 washer. We couldn’t understand why the customer couldn’t get the machine to work until we watched them use the machine. The woman kept her finger on the start button waiting for the washer to start.

Hope it is this simple for you mate.

    Cheers for the help guys.

Will get back in touch with customer to see if they can get me anymore numbers off the oven. Usually I’d go myself, but it is a 100 mile round trip!
