ParticipantAny ideas at all guys?

ParticipantThanks Dave,
Ahh okidokie. Yep I’ve no idea if it’ll behave now or the fault will just come straight back. I just wondered what I might need to look at next if it did (and how expensive it might get).
I was surprised how clean it was in there really, only trace of any fluff was a little hint of something on the small fan to the rear of the machine, it wasn’t easy to get to though so I left it alone.
Fingers crossed it’ll be good as gold now.

ParticipantIn the end we decided to call it a day. 9 years seemed like a good innings for ours so in the end we replaced the unit with a Beko (DFN28R22W I think). They seem to have a good reputation on here as being value for money and quite repairable, so fingers crossed. It certainly seems to perform well, its 30min wash does better than our old Siemens quick wash.

ParticipantHow did you get on with your engineer?
My kit turned up in the post today so I’ll be giving the repair a go tonight.
APT
ParticipantThanks Dave,
Ahh wow ok, I just presumed it was a clever third party solution.
I’m pretty sure it was actually leaking from there, the rest of the parts in the base were fairly dry.
It could be condensation I guess, but for less than £15 I’m happy to take a punt on that kit if it might do the job (and supports UK Whitegoods too). 🙂

ParticipantAhah it’s a SN26M890GB apparently (acording to my post history here)! 🙂
Thanks,

ParticipantRe: Brand new Siemens SN26M890GB Error E:02
Empire Direct (the retailer) were good as gold, they are swapping this for a new one next Saturday (the earliest *we* could do).
Thanks again for all the advice,
Andy

I’m pretty sure this is broke. 😥
It did the same tonight, it started the cycle fine but it just kept whiring and pumping in what was allegedly the final minute of the cycle but it stayed in the final “minute” for half an hour or more (I think it may have over run last night as well and I just didn’t notice).
In the end I stopped it using the reset function and then got E:02 on the display again.
Rather than getting Siemens to send an engineer I think I’ll just get the retailer to swap it for a new one, I don’t want to be stuck with a baddun. 😕
Thanks,
Andy

ParticipantRe: Brand new Siemens SN26M890GB Error E:02
Thanks for that. I’d hate to have a common error. 😉
“Running without heating” is odd as the dishes were very clean and felt fairly warm at the end (could be due to the dry cycle though?).
At least it tends to rule out an installation error though so that’s cool.
Will let you know how it goes tonight.
Thanks ,
Andy

Aye it’s odd, I can’t find anything listing all Siemens error codes (or even just E:02) anywhere online, and it only explains 2 of them in the manual. It says the ones it lists in the manual are only the user rectifiable ones, which makes me worry it mightn’t be as straightforward as moving the pipe a bit (as you’d think they’d just say that in the manual).
Oh well, as you say if we can’t find what E:02 means all we casn do is try another cycle, I’ll see how it goes tonight.
Thanks very much again,
Andy

ParticipantRe: Brand new Siemens SN26M890GB Error E:02
Thanks for that Don, there’s a chance that was it, I’ve pulled the waste hose up nearer the top of the standpipe now to see if that helps. I had it pushed a little way down before (to try and minimise the risk of the excess waste hose becoming kinked and *that* leading to problems).
Do you happen to know if the E:02 error would be consistent with that?
Thanks again,
Andy

ParticipantRe: Brand new Siemens SN26M890GB Error E:02
If it helps, here is a (slightly fuzzy) picture of the installation…

I think the drainage is ok but I’ve spotted a picture in the installation instructions which I *think* might be saying that the big filter thing on the supply hose ought to be the other way up? i.e. that it doesn’t like being upside down?
Is that the problem? Seeing as it happily finished the cycle and washed and dried the dishes it seems unlikely to be a water supply problem? 😕
Cheers,
Andy

ParticipantRe: Brand new Siemens SN26M890GB Error E:02
Hmm… a less than ideal response from the helpline, they can’t tell me what E:02 means if it isn’t one of the two error codes listed in the user manual (which funnily enough, it isn’t).
So I don’t know if it’s a kinked drainage pipe (which I’ve checked obviously) etc. or a failed part inside the machine and definitely needs an engineer.
But if I get them to send an engineer out they will charge me if it’s an installation problem. That’d be fair enough if the installation instructions weren’t pictorial hyroglyphs with about 4 english words on heh. :rolls:
Anyone more clued up, know what E:02 means?
Thanks,
Andy
