Re: BOSCH WFK2801 with FHP motor – which brushes?

Cheers for the reply on a Sunday Martin – i’ll order a set then 🙂

Are these difficult to fit compared the the other type with the external springs?

Re: Hotpoint Mistral Plus 8596 freezer stuck on -9C – fridge

In the end it came right – but it look over 12 hours to come back to ‘normal’ temperatures. It used to just take a few hours.

My suspicion is that this is just due to the age of this unit – over 15 years old. Maybe it needs re-gassing, or the compressor is not as effective as it used to me?

It is slowly going down – but I mean slowly. At -14 now. It never used to take this long to come to temperature.

I should probably buy a new fridge! This one is getting old.

Ok, so the lock mech was changed – and it’s all fixed.

One thing to note – the Bosch original part I bought from UK Whitegoods looks nothing like what I pulled out of the machine when I replaced it. In fact the compatible pare on the UK Whitegoods store looks identical. As far as I know, this part has never been replaced before.

All in all though – i’m happy it is fixed, though in retrospect, I would have got the cheaper compatible part.

What is the best way to check the heater? I have a multimeter.

And which is the pressure vessel?

I’ve ordered a lock mechanism spare.

If this doesn’t work – can anyone give any other idead of what to check/try?

Re: WFK2801 – stays on 1 minute, diagonostic code 06

    Ok, no such luck.

All cycles seem to complete properly, but at the end after draining – it sits at zero. Interestingly the error code when I do the test mode also shows 00 instead of 06.

What I have found, through trial and error, is that if I switch the machine off and back on again, and give the area of the lock a wallop with the palm of my hand, it opens up. The wallop technique is not foolproof though – it may take several cycles of the above to complete.

I’m starting to suspect it is perhaps the lock mechanism?

Any suggestions appreciated – I see these lock mechanisms are still available to purchase – how hard is it to replace?

OK after some fiddling and googling, I removed the hose from the pressure switch blew into that several times. It seemed ok, but can’t be sure if there was not a blockage.

I also blew into the pressure switch itself – in and out and I heard the switch activate.

I switched the machine on and off again, set the dial to X, reset, and voila – I was able to open the machine.

At least my kids will have some clothes for school tomorrow 😀

If the pressure switch is broken – where can I find a new one? They seem to be scarce or discontinued – is there perhaps an equivalent from another model which will work?

I’m hoping it was just a blockage and my blowing fixed it. I have the machine on a test run at the moment to see if it is a permanent fix.

    Thanks,

If it is the same model, it’s a DIY job if you are handy – no need to remove the drum. 15 mins, no. Coupe of hours fr someone who has not done one before. A bearing puller did help!

    Re: Noisy Bosch WFK2801

Thanks. That is essentially what I did, except I used a bearing puller to help me.

Still waiting for the part to arrive from UKWG – any hints on getting the bearings back on? I’ve been advised to use te old bearings to help tap in the new ones, then use the pulley wheel to help set the spindle by screwing it in.

    Re: Noisy Bosch WFK2801

    I found a drum assembly:

Looks like there is a spider inside the drum, and this red bit isn’t the spider – but the mount for the spindle & bearings – which is attached to the spider which is attached to the basket/inner drum.

The spindle is married quite firmly with the bearings – so i’m thinking I require a fair bit of pressure to get it out.

If anyone else has any ideas – or if you could ask one of your mates who has done one of these, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Noisy Bosch WFK2801

I’ve ordered the part from UKwhitegoods.

My father-in-law (a retired mechanic) suggested a bearing puller to get this off. I’m unsure though – what about getting it all back on?

    Re: Noisy Bosch WFK2801

I opened it up to have a look. It certainly sounds like the bearing inside which is grinding a bit. After failing to find an engineer who will give me a fixed price quote for changing a bearing (don’t ask) – I may well give this a go myself even though i do not have the spare yet.

    I watched this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaFF2-Rl8Nc

    And read here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix- … rings.html

Opened it up, took some bolts out – mine looks a bit different – it has a stainless steel drum, not plastic. And the ‘spider’ appears to be on the outside of the drum – not the inside. I’m assuming that bit is the ‘spider.

Can anyone give me a rough guide on how to remove the spider? Do I need to remove the whole drum to do this job? It appears that the drum is held together using some clips like this:

Any hints gratefully received. As I see it, if I can’t get this right, i’m in for a new machine anyhow.

    Re: Noisy Bosch WFK2801

I see the £25 Bearing kit is an aftermarket one and the £90 is a ‘genuine’ one though both say they are manufactured by Bosch on the online store. Is there any big disadvantage to using the £25 one over the £90 one?

    Thanks,
