ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF 560 Query
Thanks Martin…I thought you might answer!
I think I’ve fixed it now.
Reading a service manual for a different model it seems that the machine is supposed to allow 1.5 litres of water in through the pre-wash compartment before the main fill. (something to do with the sump float and saving detergent).
It seems that the pressure switch was detecting this first 1.5 litres and turning the heater on but not allowing the main fill.
I’ve replaced the pressure switch with oneI’d taken out of a scrap machine and it’s now working perfectly.
It now fills for about 5-10 seconds through the pre-wash compartment then pauses and continues filling through the powder drawer.
I must remeber this one!!

Quick update
Selected program F
Machine fills but bypasses detergent drawer (pre-wash light off)
Wash cycle starts and water heats.
After about 10-15 mins machine drains then re-fills this time with detergent but according to the lights it’s still washing not rinsing.
I’m puzzled!

ParticipantRe: Miele G646 Parts
Oh, and just in case it helps anyone else the impeller is screwed to the motor shaft and it’s a left handed thread. I jammed the motor with a screwdriver through the back into the fan and the impeller came off very easily.
Thanks again

Thanks!
I’ve now ordered the parts so hopefully will get it working once they arrive.
I stripped the pump and there is a seal – a bit like a washing machine bearing seal only much smaller – that sits between the impeller and the rear pump casing.
The seal had a hole in it so convinced that was the problem.

Thanks for this contact…I will call them in the morning.I really don’t like supplying machines without a manual, I find most people are only interested in doing a basic wash but you’re always going to get one buyer that wants to know everything!

Well I got given the machine and had I not repaired it it would end up on the scrap heap (you could argue that’s where it belongs) It now works perfectly and I’m sure I will be able to sell it on to somebody who can’t afford a new machine.
I always like to supply a user manual with every machine I sell hence the request.

You’re right Martin!
It’s an M6500
Any idea where I might find a user manual?
I’ve trawled the web but to no avail.

Update!
I’m updating this post in the hope it helps somebody else in the future.
After much probing and measuring I discovered that the potentiometer that selcts the programs wasn’t reading correctly at the main control PCB.
It turned out that the small connector which attaches to the program selector wasn’t making a reliable connection.
I cut the plug off and soldered the 3 wires on and the machine now works flawlessly.

Thanks for the reply Seamy…I hadn’t thought of that.
I did do a quick check of the NTC just to see if it was open circuit but didn’t really know what it should read. It was about 10k as I recall. Do you know what it should read at different tempratures?

Update!
Thanks again for the advice, I fixed the fuse and it works fine now.

ParticipantRe: Another Hotpoint Query
Ha!! Thanks for that, it makes sense, the machine had terminal bearings and a shattered drum support which was so bad that the drum was actually jamming.
I’ve done the bearings etc so hopefully changing the fuse should bring it back to life!
Thanks again

Thanks for your kind offer Colin, I have PM’s you and thanks also George. I have looked at the PCB and it appears to be fine, there is no sign of blown tracks and the components don’t seem discoloured. It is very strange!!
