ParticipantRe: Hoover OPH714 Door Gasket Problem
Thanks for all the replies chaps, I am very grateful.
I am about to order a new seal and will report back once I’ve tried it.
Nelson, I must admit I did think there might be a problem with the drum protruding too far forward but it appears to be fine and the orginal door seal does fit ok even though it is torn so I am pretty sure it’s just that the new seals I have are not the right ones.

ParticipantRe: Indesit WIDXL126 Washer Dryer Condenser
I know these machines are not well regarded but it’s fixed now and it didn’t need any parts so at least it I’ve managed to keep it out of landfill for a little longer.
Just got to sell it now!

Oh, then there is something else wrong. I tried a drying cycle once I straightened the disc and after about 30 minutes the machine stopped with an error code (lights 1,2 and 4 flashing). I opened the door and the washing was still damp but very hot and steamy. I hought the incomplete condenser was not doing it’s job properly but might be barking up the wrong tree!

Thanks again Dave and Grendal.
The full model number is OPH714D/2-80 and the sn is 3100306409500068.
I did fit the first new seal with the drum in situ, pretty difficult but managed but took the drum out because I was convinced I must have done something wrong!
I am a bit concerned that I may have to wait six months to fix this machine!
Dave, is there anything I could have done wrong?
The original seal is badly torn but there is a definite gap between the seal and the drum and the tear is at the front of the seal, not where it is near the drum.
The new seals are both very tight to the drum and when the door is shut and the machine is on spin it literally welds itself to the drum!

Thanks for the reply AJC_Dave!
I have just looked at Hoover’s own website and they show two different seals that fit this model as well. I will get the full model details tomorrow. It is really frutrating, I took the entire tub out to make sure I had fitted it properly.
For some reason I can’t log on to my Connect account. I will post again tomorrow with full details and than ks againOctober 23, 2012 at 10:00 am in reply to: H/Point VTD00 T/Drier – vibration after drum shaft kit fit #382287ascleanasitgets

Yes I did fit new front nylon bearings.
The rim of the drum had a light sticky deposit on it, I guess it was fabric conditioner but I don’t really know. Cleaning it with wire woll definitely solveed it though.
I have to say the original bearings pads seem to fit better than pattern parts and for the small difference in cost I think I will stick to originals.

I re-furbed one of these recently and it was vibrating badly when put back together. I was luck enough to have time to investigate over a period of days as it was in my workshop. It turned out to be the front of the drum “sticking” to the nylon fron bearings. I thoroughly cleaned the bearing surface of the drum (front) with wire wool and that seemed to cure it.

ParticipantRe: Haier Bearing Change
Well I had a good look at it today and found it easier to get the tub out through the front.
Once the tub was out it split very easy, much like a Hotpoint really.
The seal is an odd size though, I’ve ordered the parts but don’t expect to put it back together until Monday at the earliest

LOL!!!
Thanks for the advice, I must admit I wouldn’t normally bother with one of these but a friend gave me it to repair and re-sell and I already have buyers queuing up for it because it’s grey and in fantastic cosmetic condition. Must admit I was pleasantly surprised when I realised that the bearings can actually be changed. Thanks again for the advice.

Just to add the following:
The bottle does click in to place in the valve yet there is no water whatsoever in the tank after a cycle (but a lot on my floor)!

Update!! Help please!!
As a pure stroke of luck I got given another one of these today, the owner said it worked perfectly until the timer know got broken off.
I fitted the knob from the first one and it has exactly the same symptoms, heater element only powers up for ten seconds.
Completely puzzled I tried it with a damp load of washing and hey presto it works.
Am I losing the plot or are these machines supposed to switch the heater off if the washing is dry even on a timed cycle?

ParticipantRe: Miele G646 Parts
Thanks for the advice, it was actually a nice job to do but sadly I can’t charge for it as it’s my own machine!
New parts ar now fitted and I ran it through a full cycle with the side removed and the leak is cured.
Just got to fix the leak in my wallet now…Miele parts Pfffttt!!!
