ParticipantRe: Beko DW686 dishwasher leaks.
Hi Steve,
I know it’s a long shot but have you checked the harness at the bottom of the door? I’ve had several of these dishwashers with severed cables which make and break as you open the door, giving all kinds of intermittent faults. Say it’s the pump wire broken then I do know these machines will fill a second time and then overfill. It’s worth checking if only to eliminate this as a possible cause.Cheers

Thanks a bunch Wiz. You wouldn’t guess (yes you would)
The customer had been playing and removed a screw at the back which attaches the sensor to the cabinet, so it was hanging on the harness. The result was that it would spin without a load but any vibration caused by clothes in the drum would shake the sensor and register “out of balance”.
Thanks again for your expertise, top man.

You don’t say if it’s heating up all. In my experience your fault has always been the high temperature thermostat open circuit, which means a new element assembly.(why can’t we buy thermostat kits like on Hotpoint). The customer did say it’s been getting too hot which points to the cycling stat failing.

Cheers iadom. The manual was useful and the wiring diagram showed me what circuits to check. It turned out to be switch A1 to A2 in the timer which I shorted out to test the machine. New timer now fitted and all good.
Thanks a bunch

The machine appears to have fixed itself. After several days inactivity it has started to work normally. There was lots of evidence of leaking from the dispenser and it appears the electrics were damp somewhere.A good clean of the dispenser roof will hopefully keep it running sweet.

As I wrote in the first place, on this model the screw is totally inaccessible from the sump hose.I think the diameter of the hose is smaller than the one in the picture and the screw is 2″ offset. There is simply no way of getting a driver on the head. This machine is an 8kg model which may explain the difference in design!

Thanks Colin for the info.Only Hoover/Candy could engineer a paddle which is fixed with a screw you cant access(well maybe others). The solution is to remove the top tub weight and drill a 35mm hole in the tub right behind the plastic weld line.I used my cupboard door router which I use to fit hinges. The paddle screw is still slightly offset but you can remove it carefully using bluetack on the screwdriver. You can then fit the plastic disc that you drilled out back to the tub with a hot-glue gun.Job sorted.

Thanks guys. As the set-up board was so cheap (£12.52+vat)I replaced it and everything works fine. The interesting thing is that the start switch meters out ok,so it must been a board fault, probably the chip.

I would get a module from EMW which are already programmed for YOUR model. If it doesn’t cure the fault then you know for certain its a component or wiring fault, and you can return it for £7.20.

I checked the NTC resistance,6k @ ambient, then used hot water to test and it dropped to 1k.The wireing including the crimps all seemed ok so I reassembled and put the machine on test and guess what, hey presto the condenser valve opened. The customer has now run it twice and it’s drying perfectly.I think there must have been a high resistance at the spade connections. Thanks Martin for pointing me in the right direction.

No i haven’t.Could it simply be a severed wire at the NTC?
