ParticipantRe: Bosch SGS4332AU/30 Dishwasher
Hi Martin
Thanks for your reply. While trying to find info about my machine I stumbled across a statement from the New Zealand Bosch distributor that some machines manufactured between 2000 and 2006 have a faulty controller that is a fire hazard and machines that are eligible will have their controller replaced at no charge. After filling my machine details in on an online form I was informed that my machine is one of the faulty ones and will be repaired for nothing. Once it is done I will let you know if that is the final resolution.Cheers

Hi Ratbag
Thanks very much for your suggestion. I will try this when I can. In the mean time my daughter (who lives close) will continue bringing her washing around to use our machine.Regards

Hi Ratbag
Thanks for your reply but as stated this issue occurs on cold wash. I’m suspecting a faulty control board but clinging to hope that it may be something simpler and cheaper.boyo1
ParticipantRe: F&P MW511 Noisy Bearing
I have at last completed the bearing replacement in my MW511 and as Bigsmokepiker alluded it is a fairly big job for the novice – not helped by pressing the bearings out the wrong end. The shaft definitely required replacing as the seal had worn it and leaking had just began. To facilitate pressing the bearings and seal in squarely I had to fashion some jigs in the form of pipes of the correct length to fit over both ends of the shaft to pull the new shaft and top bearing in from below and to press the new seal in from the top. We now have a very quiet machine. These machines a very easy to work on – disassembly and reassembly is quick and easy.

Hi Penquin 45
You have mentioned in a couple of posts on this forum recentlly that the pump on F&P machines is live as long as the machine is plugged in. I have also heard that the pump is part of the control electronics circuitry. Is this in fact correct? Thanks and keep up the good work.June 10, 2008 at 12:28 am in reply to: F & P Pride MW511 -small but mysterious cause of malfunc #251615boyo1

As a further insight into repair versus replace, I am sure you would find that the man hours cost of identifying and carrying out one-of repairs would be extremely expensive and probably at multiples of the cost of a refurbished boards. These boards are refurbished by personel who have expert knowledge of the product and the dedicated test equipment to analyse and test the boards. Don’t be hard on the serviceman – he is only trying to eek out a living like everyone else. After all you wouldn’t do some thing for nothing or at a cost that wouldn’t get you ahead would you. I have located Fisher and Paykel servive centres in NZ that can supply me a refurbished GW609 board for $130 and a new one for $170.
