Thanks for the extra quick reply! I’ll check the capacitor tomorrow, and see what happens. Not going to be too pleased if the motor needs doing though! If you’re saying it’s a tricky job, that is not filling me with confidence!!!

Re: Bosch WFR2860 Washing machine – Pump blocked

Just to complete this thread, I received the pump yesterday and fitted it.

Once fitted, the machine still struggled to empty, so I pulled the drain hose from the undersink spigot, and stuck one of those springy drain cleaner thingies down it.

Anyway, after a bit if clearing and pumping out into a bowl, it regurgitated 7 years of grey crud from the pipe, and now drains & functions correctly.

I can only think that the gradual narrowing of the pipe put more strain on the old pump, and eventually it just gave out. (Sorry to sound like a heart surgeon 😉 )

Thanks for the advice chaps, and sending the new pump out quickly too!

Can anyone advise how to get the pump out? Does the front of the machine have to come off?

    Cheers

Re: Bosch WFR2860 Washing machine – Pump blocked

    *Thread revival!*

Hope no-one minds me bumping this post, there’s no conclusion posted (unless the new pump did the trick) so I’ll add my woes to here rather than start a new thread!

Anyway, my WFR2860 is playing up.

It stops during the drain cycles, and just hums. Initially, there was a bit of that grey clay semi-solid gunk blocking the rotor, which I removed and it worked fine. I ran the pump with the drain plug off and it span freely as I imagine it should.

it worked for a bit, then did it again, but there was no gunk blocking the pump, although the pipe from the chamber into the pump was furred with grey gunk which I have cleared as best I can.

Also, in the periods it is working, it sometimes detects foam (there is none) and goes into several extra unecessary rinse cycles.

    Therefore my questions are:

    A) Will an acid descale clear the grey gunk?
    B) When the pumps fail (it is 7yrs old now) do they just stop dead or go intermittent like mine?
    C) Are there any methods to troubleshoot the level sensor or the control module?

Lastly if it proves uneconomical to repair if the computer is dead, do any of the professionals have anything to say about the new line of LG washers?

Re: Bosch SGS09A02GB/11 Not draining properly

    Cheers Penguin,

Well, I took the side off today, to look for anything obvious & check all the pipes were clear. Drain pipe to the sink was all clear, inside the machine looked all nice & clean, so I put it all back together again, and as if by magic, it seems to be working again as normal. 😕 I tipped it on it’s side, and banged it about a bit, so maybe it’s dislodged something, who knows.

Anyway, the only thing out of the ordinary I found, was bit of gunge inside the heat-exchanger tank thingy. It’s at the top left in this picture. Looks like mould, but I don’t think there are any controls or sensors that might be getting fouled, at this point, are there?

Re: Bosch SGS09A02GB/11 Logixx noisy pump/loss of pressure

    Thanks for the advice!

I’ve run the Finish dishwasher cleaner through it, then a couple of tabs of the Sainsburys own brand stuff too. As far as I can tell, the pressure seems to have returned to normal, but the pump/motor is still making the same noise.

I’ve felt round the intakes as described above, and can’t find any residue at all, but until I get a bottle brush I can’t see if theres any more gunge further up the pipes.

It’s interesting what was said about the chlorine based liquids (ie Finish) because it has etched the glasses, and has also stained the door, and doesn’t deal with mashed potato very well! I’m surprised the tablets haven’t been reformulated, as I’m sure more and more dishwashers have auto programs and would suffer from foaming – unless this only happens with the Bosch dishwashers 😕

Anyway, I’ll see how it goes, although if it’s working, but a bit noisy, I’m a bit reluctant to take the panels off, in case I finish it off completely 😀

Re: Bosch SGS09A02GB/11 Logixx noisy pump/loss of pressure

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I’ve checked the arms & they are all clear.

It seems to fill up OK – the level of water in the bottom when opened mid cycle looks like it’s the same as before.

    It’s not leaking (yet)

I poked my finger up the intake for the circulation pump, and there was a small amount of stringy debris which I removed, so maybe it’s worth stripping this out and seeing if there’s any more stuck.

So you think the problem is more likely a blockage somewhere rather than knackered pump? Do they just tend to give up at once, or are they known to die slowly?

Can you use caustic cleaners to dissolve internal crud, or would this damage pipes/sensors?

    Cheers! 😀
