Re: Adjust door open alarm time

Thank you thats useful to know.

Do you have a service manual for this unit, perhaps I could borrow a copy as I’d like to know a bit more about it.
Or are you one of the designers? Or just familiar with this model?

I am a refrigeration engineer but I’m more used to commercial units and unfortunately don’t have access to domestic service info ?

    Re: freezer needed

Not intentionally but a ‘commercial like’ one perhaps unless a ‘domestic’ one is available that suites the job.

Unfortunately the ones I’ve looked at on the high street are big oversized lumps of plastic molding without much usable space in them. And cost a fortune. 😯
Dont want any gadgets, icemakers, bottle holders etc. Just plain simple shelves.
I’ve had a good look on fleabay and there are several that might do.
The ones that take my fancy are in the section of commercial display freezers.
But its still got to fit in a smallish kitchen.

    Re: LG motor needed

Thank you. Its a shame, as it was a nice vacuum to use and better than many. (motor clearly wasn’t)
We only paid fifty quid for it in a cpc special.

Have you ever tried to get them apart? Seems to have invisible screw heads.

Its really only the bearing that’s u/s I may be able to replace it.

Re: BBC TELEVISION WANT TO HELP YOU!!!

    Fasinating thread.
But has the programme aired yet?

I was wondering if it wasnt tied in somehow to one of these ‘tart a house up and make a fortune when you sell it’ type progs. Plenty of them around last few years but with property prices going ever skywards, it must be harder to refit a kitchen, so hence cheaper capital costs on the refurb. Who cares then if an appliance might only last six months. They’ve made there money on a shiny new kitchen.

    Re: Dyson Hoovers (vac spares)

    You’ll never guess.
After posting here and ringing round, thought I’d have a laugh and ring Dyson’s accessories / helpline no. to see if they’d sell me one etc.
Turns out the no’ above is specific to each cleaner and from that they can look up all the details, purchase info, etc, which to be honest I couldnt even remember when much less find a receipt. But it just happens its still in warenty and a man will be comming tomorrow foc. Brilliant. So even though cleaners are crap, service is excellent. What else can I say?
I’ll have to try and figure out how all the little plastic bits go back togeather now though.

For info I think the motor no is longer but it is YDK YV-2201 3013~240
But hopefully shouldnt be needed now.
    Cheers

    Got bits OK.
Fitted and Works OK, (what a sod to get two on!)
But works so well its a relief to use. So simple, and so much better.
Amazed they’re not on every bits and bobs rack of every corner shop.

    Many thanks

    Re: Sliding door Hinges ???

    Hi Dave,
Had a look over the fridges to pick a model as suggested.
Went on boxing day last week which I thought would make it easier to poke around abit. See what you mean now with different styles but most tend to suit the corners of square cornered doors, where mine are rounded. Another thing is that where they have only one slide per door, the fit seems very bad. So I’d prefer two per door if pos.
However one or two are fixed on the front of the doors which should work for me.
The best I could see were on a fridge / freezer Mod no’ AHP6012 but listed in catalogue as APM6012.

If thats not available there is another which may do as has metal ends (I can bend a bit). That one is APM6855.

    many thanks for info.

Martin114 wrote:Funny you should mention “ions” and stuff, but going off the thread just a tad I know but cop this recent press release:

Airwash, is a waterless washing unit that utilizes negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes. Its form is inspired by the waterfall, nature’s negative ion generator. Airwash eliminates the need for detergent and water. By using atmospheric air and negative ions–a natural cleansing agent–it fights dirt and bacteria with nature’s own weapon. It is designed to be placed anywhere in the home, not only in the laundry area. The simple user interface “floats” to wherever on the appliance the user wants 🙁

Sounds like a nice futuristic idea, but Id like to see how it coped with my overalls, or the kids jeans.

You’ve got me there. I’ll ask around.

I do know they use RF (radio waves) to dry stuff in furnace’s etc. Mainly pottery I think. But Micro-wave possible also I believe, but seeing what it does to food….

    Re: Really smart tumble dryers?

Mate I totally agree. You ARE spot on. But…
In a sealed box the air would soon become saturated, and water would have to condense befor clothes would evaporate again. Which would limit effectiveness so youd then have to heat. I spouse it would have to be open ended to work properly so youd need some ductwork from one side of the building to the other, or a chimney to more fresh dry air. Another way could be to motorise a rotary washing line. Now theres an idea.

But really all good comercial / industrial drying chambers use the same principle.
Imagine a LARGE chamber, 30ft x 15ft. Stick a false ceiling in and above it near the middle. Stick in wall to wall, high power fans and heaters. The hot air blows accross the false ceiling to the front wall, deflects and goes toward the back of the chamber through whatever needs drying, racks of sweets, bricks, even boilees, where the enormous great FO humidifiers I’ve spoke of before are waiting to strip out the water from the wind. Then goes up above the ceiling and starts again.
Not what youd want in your kitchen though, a smaller version would mean back to damn heatpump dryer again.

Oh well! looks like I’m staying poor… 😥
