ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Ultima TDC62 – Dryer stops mid cycle
Hello Guys – you might think this is a dead thread … but having returned from holiday with 3 kids’ worth of washing to do & no way of getting it dried quickly – I’m under pressure to find a solution.
Any advice on my previous questions gratefully received.
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Ultima TDC62 – Dryer stops mid cycle
So I’m back, still trying to get to the root cause of the dryer stopping intermittently.
I think the last post was rather side tracked with discussions about the rubbing noise, but I dont think that is the issue I need to resolve just now.
We’ve replaced the rear stats, as these had blown because the machine stopped half way through a drying cycle, I’ve also tried to get at the front stat too – but that seems impossible to get at without dismantling the whole machine ( OK slight exageration – but its not looking like a DIY job).
So what other options do I have? I’ve seen other posts about dryness modules, comments made about failing motor capacitiors – all of which I’m willing to look at – but I could do with some info on where these components are in the box, any tests I could apply to check them out and/or any other suggestions at to what coudl be causing this machine to cut out mid-cycle.
Thanks & Happy Easter !

Thanks for the tips. We’re now down to the ‘should we even have a Tumble dryer ? ‘ debate.
….we may still end up with an ISE to go with our ISE washing machine !

I’m thinking that because we’ve had this for some years now that we should be replacing it rather thatn forking out on potentialy expensive repairs. Is it worth reparing this do you think?
We are looking at the ISE condensing dryer – but i’ve noticed that it is only a C rated machine – how does thsi compare with competitir machines in reality?

Thanks – Penguin.
So, to recap, the old stats have the convex shape – the new stats are solid with no convex shape at all.
Could this mean I have been sent an incorrect part?
Thanks

the original stats – (which were bought as replacements on here from shop@) do have the concave one shot cut outs. The new stats ( which are nothing like the originals) have solid bases.
I’m still thinking I’ve been sent the wrong parts…
Any suggestions on how to post a picture in a message on here?

true…..
so, yes i did check & one stat shows a zero Ohm reading & one stat shows infinity….i am making a presumption that either an infinite or a zero reading indicates one is faulty…
I cant remove the other stat from the top front of the drum so havnt been able to test that in isolation.dachwilson

to suadehead – thanks for answering that one!

ParticipantRe: Non working Hotpoint ultima TDC62
Thanks for your replies.. – yes that it the part number I ordered & its referenced on the invoice as 1701583 – however the parts in the box look nothing like the picture. The stat I have been sent has a reference number on the top of KSD301A.
I’ve taken a picture of the box & parts I’ve been sent – but cant see how to insert them into this message.
If someone could tell me how to then I coudl show what I have been sent.
The only other question then is whether the green spot stat is inserted on the left or the right….i’m happy that i know which wires go to which side its just which stat goes to which side…
Thanks
David

ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT ‘Ultima’ TDC62 – no heat being produced
Hi guys,
I replaced the thermostats as supplied and still no heat being produced. Any other suggestions – I seem to remember there being talk of a front thermostat as well – could that be the culprit instead? If not any other sugestions?
What about the obvious..the heater is goosed?

Well, that intermittent fault is back…. so i’ve ordered the thermostat kit to see if it solves the problem. I’ll let you know how I get on.

OK Guys here is an update…
In taking the back off we found it was full of fluff…that has been hoovered out & hey presto it works again….
….not sure why it works if the Stats had gone… or are we back to the unidentified intermittent fault & the fluff is nothing to do with it?
What do u think?
