ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT ‘Ultima’ TDC62 – no heat being produced
Thanks…yes cross bar & bearing cover already off….will be weilding a screwdriver this evening when I get home….
PS – are these the type of thermostats that can be reset? I seem to remember seeing in other posts that this is possible in certain circumstances?

ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT ‘Ultima’ TDC62 – no heat being produced
Sorry about all the questions…but having removed all the screws to inspect the rear of the machine ( unplugged of course) – the rear cover appears to be stuck(welded?) to the main machine chassis.
Is this usual? If not, how on earth does it come off?
Thanks
David

Hi guys,
I wondered even if you cant answer the ‘intermittent’ question what hints you could give for where the thermostats are located & ideas for how to get at them?

Thanks for such a quick rely & on a Saturday afternoon too! I’ll order them from the link & fit them myself.
Any tips on where these are located?
By the way – immediately after posting the question I tried again & the heat came on – so I’m wondering ….can thermostat failures be intermitttent? Otherwise I guess it could be a loose connection somewhere…which could be a real job to locate…!
Now having come back after going out- the original problem has come back….
What do you think?

ParticipantRe: ISE10 Question
I wonder…could it be that it ‘remembers’ your loads & times & therefore can now gve you a more accurate estimate from the start?
Or is this a flight of fancy?

ParticipantRe: ISE10 Question
That explains it then – thanks.
If I was to be really, really pedantic then…. if the machine recalculates ‘on the fly’ as it were…apart from the fact that it does tell you the latest ‘time to complete’…would it be fair to say that the time at the beginning of the cycle is a rough estimate but getting closer & closer to reality as the cycle nears completion?

ParticipantRe: ISE10 Question
Yes, we’ve also seen some inconsistent ‘time left’ displays. My wife is keeping a note of them. Its not a major problem – just a minor inconvenience.
Guys – is there any obvious reason for this?

I also have bought an ISE 10 & its doing fine so far ! I’m pretty sure its well worth the money !

ParticipantRe: Any feedback on ISE10 models yet?
One thing gents…
Having had the ISE 10 for a few weeks now one thing I have noticed is that the hinges of the drop down door get in the way of opening the door so it folds back flat against whatever is next to the ISE 10.
Nothing too significant – but just a design detail that it might be worth considering for any product revisions.
Having a drop down door & the access door that folds back 180 degreees would be really good.

ParticipantRe: New ISE 10
A quick question….
Is it still recommended to perform monthly 90 degree service washes on the ISE10?
Unless I missed it (& its perfectly possible !) I dont recall seeing anything about them in the instruction booklet.
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM64
Thanks for all your help guys.
We’ve also noticed now that the door has a crack in it – so given all the other things that are slowly & surely going wrong with this machine, we are going to get a new one.
Talked to the Mrs about ISE 10 (even though budget is about £500) – but she dosn’t like the drop down door …can anyone explain why its there – it feels like it will just get in the way when you are trying to empty the machine.
ISE 5 is also an option – but I can’t find anything that details all the wash cycles. Mrs is insistant that she knows what it can do before we buy one..fair enough really.
Was also considering Bosch – can you suggest a good machine from there – able to cope with loads from 3 kids & 2 adults.
Finally noticed LG do an (expensive ) Steam washer…what do u thik of that machine…?
Cheers guys

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM64
OK guys,
So down to business – it feels like I am looking at a set of suspension arms, new brushes & possibly new bearings/drum spider.
PLease can someone provide me with links to the shop so I can check out prices?
I’m feeling adventurous so (Assuming the suspension arms arn’t prohibatively expensive) i’ll probably try these & the brushes to see if we can fix before venturing into the realms of bearings & Spiders.
Of course this might be money down the drain ! & a new Meile/ISE/Bosch might still have to be bought…..
Cheers

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM64
Thanks.
Without wanting to be too picky, would replacing the suspension arms solve the other issue around not moving through the wash cycles? If not, what do you think the problem might be there?
If I were to source the arms through here, are there any hints around how the existing ones are removed & the drum supported whilst inserting the new ones?
Thanks for your continued help….
