ParticipantRe: Running Costs of Hob – Ceramic v Induction
Thanks Greaseater, I phoned up the Siemens support line, they told me this:
This is the advice I was given about halogen v induction. The time taken to take 2 litres of water from 15 degrees to 90 degrees:
Halogen: 8.6 minutes
Induction: 4.7 minutesThe energy efficiency, which I think is how much of the power used is actually heating the water:
Halogen: 56{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}
Induction: 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}danktuft

Greaseater,
Thanks for the rapid reply, it’s very helpful. Could you clarify just a little further? I’d like to know roughly how much cheaper (or less energy they use) than ceramics an induction hob is. Of course, I don’t need to know exactly just ball park, eg 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} less energy used.

Simon, thanks for the reply. We tried what you suggested and it’s worked! Thanks very much. Er, why did it work though?

Dave,
I followed your advice and even though the kind of propeller things had only minor blockages when cleared the machine works a lot better. Thanks very much for your prompt reply, I appreciate it a lot.
