ParticipantRe: Tricity Bendix TB117FF Condensation on Outside
Thanks K for the quick reply.
I’ve just checked the temperature at the condensation area and it is around 14 deg C whereas the normal area is 19 deg C (room temp).
I dont think it is putting that much extra strain on the unit but this is bound to make it more inefficient. I was thinking of attaching a flat section of polysterene (packaging) to insulate the area where the condensation is. Would this help?
Finally if I was going to buy another fridge what is most reliable make. This time I am looking at getting an integrated unit but these seem much more expensive. Currys are doing a deal on an Indesit INC325AI 9.0 cuft Integrated Fridge Freezer for £299. Is this a good fridge or another piece of junk which will fail in 5-6 years like my last 2 units?

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Stopping Mid Rinse
I had a look for the mains suppressor at the weekend. Tipped the machine up, removed the black plastic tray on the bottom and had a good look around, but couldn’t see anything that resembled the mains suppressor in the photo.
Apologies for having to come back again but would Penguin45 or anyone else know the exact location. 😕

Hi again could you please confirm the position of the mains suppressor – I had a look in the front door where the pcb board is and the dispenser but cannot see it. Is it round the back where the mains cable feeds in? in which case do I just need to remove the back door or side? Thanks again.

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Stopping Mid Rinse – Suppressor Fault?
Hi Penguin, just had another read through the forums and came across a guy who had a whirlpool which appears to be a smeg and his problem was the mains RCD was tripping – the problem was a dodgy mains suppressor.
Come to think of it my mains tripped out last week when the dishwasher was running.
This might point to a mains suppresor fault with my machine?
I don’t thinks its the dispenser as I replaced this last year to fix the non starting problem I had.If its not the supressor it is probably then the PCB which means it is a new machine for me.
But based on what I’ve said do you think it is worth a shot to try the suppressor? If so can you give me the price and I’ll order it from you.

Thanks penguin for the advice to avoid the hotpoint.
assuming I cany get mine fixed I’ll look at buying a basic Bosch model. The other ones are a bit pricier what with the credit crunch going on 😉

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Stopping Mid Rinse
I thought I would have another go at trying to find out the fault with my dishwasher.
Initially the problem was it just stopped during the rinse while the 3rd light was flashing towards the end of the cycle.
When the problem started last June it stopped once per wash and simply pressing the start button once restarted the machine and it would finish to the end OK.
Recently the machine has been stopping more randomly mid cycle, sometimes earlier in the cycle when the 2nd light is flashing and the machine is in the cold washing stage. Also sometimes it stops 3 or 4 or 5 during same wash cycle so the frequency of stops is also increasing. In all these cases when I press start button the machine goes gor another while. I also have to force the machine to stop early by pressing the start button and holding down for a few seconds – the machine then jumps to the end of the cycle and starts draining with both 3rd and 4th lights lit.
I did find some info from another user with similar smeg (DF612SE) who says he was able to fix his machine (which appeared to have a very similar fault) by removing right panel and aquavacing a plastic panel that chanels the water all around the machine.
Would this be a typical fix for this problem?
I was contemplating buying a new machine in the sales and have my eye on the Hotpoint FDL570G which I can get for around £225. The dilema I have is should I persever with the 6 year smeg which has given me a few problems and I know they are not cheap to repair or do I buy a new hotpoint?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

HI Penguin, the solenoid was replaced 10 months ago and fixed another fault on my machine when it refused to start at all, I’m surprised it going again so soon, maybe the PCB is starting to go? Are these expensive and would they be a DIY job? ❓

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Stopping Mid Rinse
Yes thanks, I checked that link about other error codes, but I don’t think it applies to me for this fault.
The machine is now stopping during every rinse cycle. It cut’s out on program 5 and now 6.
When it operates normally the 1st light flashes, then 2nd, then 3rd, then 4 th as it goes through the different phases and program ends. When it stops it always happens during the 3rd rinse phase and then no lights flash – it looks like it is in the condition before a cycle is started when the lights are on depending on what program is selected.
When it stops I simply press start button and hold until I hear 2 beeps, then after short pause it goes OK again and completes cycle. Very strange 😕

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Not Starting (Now cycles tvery long)
Hi,
I ordered spare part (dispenser) from UK Whitegoods which was delivered very promptly. I now have a working dishwasher again and saved myself a fortune!😀 😀

Guys, I just found this on another listing on this forum http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=24434.
It is exactly same issue as I am seeing and would point to the faulty soap dispenser/electrical noise problem.
This forum is a great source of information. THanks. 😀

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF64SSE Not Starting
Hello again, I never got this issue resolved, and have been washing dishes the old fashioned way for too long now!
I rang Smeg today, and they will charge me £89 just to look at it, with parts and vat additional 😯 .
I’m reluctant to pay this. The current situation with the dishwasher is when you press in the start button on any cyle it beeps twice (as normal), then there is immediately a noisy buzz/grunt sound followed by quieter glug sound, and the machine stops. This is all the machine does.
I did call a local service engineer who thinks it might be something to do with the aquastop device which is on the end of the hose connected to the mains supply, and as he wasn’t sure he was reluctant for me to buy the part in case it was not the problem. He was going to come back and bypass it by cutting the hose, but he never returned and has probably forgotten.
Does anyone think this may be the aquastop device malfunctioning. I would be prepared to buy this if I knew for sure it would fix my problem.

thanks for that. 🙂 My wife thinks the problems started after the filter unit was removed and cleaned, so perhaps there is something in there. Is it easy to loacte the drain pump on this model? thanks

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM13 Washing Machine ON/OFF SWITCH
Hi again,
I received the on/off switch today (ordered from the link UK Whitegoods), and have fitted it, but there is a problem with the switch ….
The switch is a slightly different type from the one which was replaced.
When the switch is pressed in the washer is off, when the switch is released the washer turns on (opposite from correct operation).
This would not have been a problem, but for the fact that to turn the washer on, the white plastic cover sits out further than normal, so I cannot turn washer on with the plastic front panel in place. I can operate the washer with the plastic fron panel in , and the small white switch cover removed but this is not ideal. Anyone come across this problem before – do I need to send switch back or can I modify it? The washer is a WM13 P.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM13 Washing Machine
thanks, I understand that bit about safety and legal reasons… 8)
would I need to remove the front panel to replace a door seal on the Hotpoint WM13 or are there any other tips that make it easier, I’ve read a bit of washing up liquid helps to get the door seal on Bosch models, would it help on the hotpoint?
Thanks 😉
