Hello, my two bit worth is i used to work like Paddy, you go the extra mile to keep the customer happy and to possibly secure future calls as well as being recommended to others. Now maybe it’s due to the amount of time i’ve work in this business or maybe it’s just simply a case of realizing that i’m running a business and though i will give 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on every call i go to, i now draw the line at rushing out to a call at 10pm because the customer isn’t available at any other time, (yes it’s happened 🙁 )
Ok so a plumber would do a night visit but the customers wallet feels it, you try charging extra for out of hours visit and you get told that they will get a neighbor to let you in.
Following up on what Martin said about “priceless info on my PC” i allso have paper backup on the important stuff just incase vista F$@KS up AGAIN! or the battery runs out. I know we have a thread for test procedures, faults and etc but maybe it’s worth having a thread where wiring diagram and any other forms of information that would benefit us all could be placed, for example i got some wma config sheets from iadom which i found very useful and as far as i know these aren’t in any thread.

    Re: hotpoint wt741

According to hotpoint with the info from the model and serial number this machine has a split drum but when i went to see it, it seems to be a sealed drum!

I’ve not yet work on a machine that has a sealed drum so i’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} but the lack of brackets on this tub would lean me towards saying a sealed unit. can someone tell me for sure?, many thanks

Re: Running a wm motor out of the machine

I agree with everyone on there comments, i just wish customers would believe what’s been said to them. I felt like saying to her that if her husband knew what the problem was, then you could have saved your self money by not calling me out.
I’ve always tested a motor the “normal” way and always will, i just got bloody annoyed at basically being called a lair, first time in 12 years so not too bad.

    Thanks all

I did mention that to her but as with all washing machine repairs “it’s urgent”. However i think that i will send it to you for repair once the new one is installed, wouldn’t be a bad idea to have one in stock, assuming i’m right and it is the module.

    Re: Proline fridge/freezer

Checked all those except the timer as i didn’t recognize it (only dealt with the big chunky black units before) like you say that could be the problem in that it’s not advancing onto the defrost cycle, also the evaporator is behind the back wall and it’s a stat not a pcb. Thanks for the help, looks like i might be dealing with a faulty defrost timer. Some people amaze me, this machine has been like this since new (over a year ago) yet they never had it dealt with under warranty?? 😕

    David

Edit: a faulty defrost timer would explain the ice build up but would it also cause the -15 in the fridge?

    Re: Proline fridge/freezer

No pcb just a stat and the end goes down into the back wall via a tube. There was one thing i didn’t recognize which was next to the compressor, it was a white plastic box and inside that was what i would describe as a smaller white box shape object with what look like a little steel dome attached on the side, look a bit like a bike bell and on another side was a dial that needed a screw driver to turn it.

Fridge/Freezers are not my strong point give me a washer, t/d or cooker anytime 😀

    Re: Proline fridge/freezer

The customer called me back to this with the same problem which is the fridge is getting to cold, she reckons -15. So before i go back has anyone got any thoughts on this? this is the run down: been too cold ie; icing up (2″ thick on back wall) since she bought it from friends when it was a week old. compressor turns of with stat, fitted new stat, thinking that it was faulty since new, but it’s still too cold. The model number is plc55ssw or plcss55w, my Ss & 5s look the same.
