    Hi Dave,
I have made one attempt at fixing it – I fitted a new condenser and a new relay – they were exact replacements. There might have been some improvement but it was basically the same – warm inside instead of cold. I am reluctant to give up hope because the FF is an exact fit to the millimeter in the kitchen worktop. Is there anything else that I can try? What is causing this problem?
There is nobody local who will repair a FF: washing machines – yes, but FF -no.
    Thank you.

    Hi Dave

Some feedback, thank you. The local appliance engineers are fully booked so I have done the following:
    – Removed RHS panel (and top panel, of course).
    – Identified mains-cable terminal block (white) with suppressor fixed to the back of it.
    – Used a screwdriver with a long blade and a fine tip to carefully pry the suppressor away from the terminal block.
    – Suppressor was burst open, blackened and leaking brown fluid.
    – Connected 13A plug to socket, added dishwasher powder and dishes, and switched on dishwasher.
    – Dishwasher performed a full cycle, with no interference to television or radio.

The live & neutral spade-terminals for the suppressor are partially hidden behind the plastic shielding between them and the earth spade-terminal. In view of this and the lack of interference, I will not fit a replacement suppressor. However, I will fit a surge protector between the 13A plug and the mains socket (plenty of room as the socket is to one side of the dishwasher, not behind it).

So far, so good! Thank you very much for your assistance.

    Hi Dave
Thank you very much for finding the diagrams and part list. I will remove the suppressor and in the short term use a surge protector on the 13A plug while I order a replacement (wired) component. Please be patient if for any reason I need further advice.
All the best and have a great weekend.

    Hi Dave
Thank you for the reply. I tried to upload a photo but the message says that the file is too large. The ‘label’ is imprinted in black writing in the centre on the stainless-steel top edge of the door. There is a rectangular box; inside the box it says:
    “Robert Bosch Hausgerate Gmbh
    E-Nr
    SGS53012GB/21
    FD8609 002020″

To the right of the box:
    “406090240538020207
    230V//240V 50Hz
    2.3kW//2.5kW
    10/16A”

The “0” is badly shaped, so it might just be a “C”:
    “SGS5C12GB/21”

Would be grateful for your thoughts on the problem. (Is it necessary to replace the suppressor after removing it?)
    Thank you.

Wesjon wrote:Hi all. I have a Whirlpool Generation 2000, model number BS0800WH01. At present it is only partially heating up. I selected the bottom element on the selection switch and the fan comes on but absolutely no heat is generated. So it appears there is only heat coming from the top.

    Can anybody possibly help?

    Thanks

    Hi
For info, I recently tried to replace the bottom element (not a fan element) in the top oven of a Whirlpool double oven. The element was a very tight fit in its compartment, had distorted, broke up when pulled and could not be completely removed. Before ordering a replacement, I recommend making sure that the ‘old’ element can be completely removed. If it can be successfully removed, the fixing bracket will have the part number that can be used when ordering a replacement. Hope this helps.

    Hi everyone

The latest situation is that the dishwasher is being temperamental but with a bit of switching on/off, etc, it will eventually start.

The instruction manual says “The salt container should be filled up when the low salt indicator light flashes. The dishwasher will remind you to do so for three consecutive wash cycles.”

The instruction manual does not say what happens if the salt container has not been refilled after “three consecutive wash cycles”. I am wondering if this is somehow connected to the initial problem described in my first email.

Thank you once again to iadom and mrspaplaz for their replies. The forum has been extremely helpful. 😀

    Hi mrspaplaz

Thank you for the reply. This is very helpful.

I had previously printed off a manual from the Hotpoint website. I then turned the knob to “Reset” many times and also tried many combinations of switching it on/off and at the mains as well.

Yes, you are correct about the “Salt Refill” light as it had been flashing for a few cycles and the salt container was empty; I should have filled it sooner. I do not know if there was a connection to the flashing “Drying” light.

Late yesterday, for no apparent reason, light 4 “Drying” stopped flashing and it was able to go through a wash cycle for the first time for several days. The “Salt Refill” light was ‘off’ during the wash cycle.

I think that there is an intermittent fault here. I will consider my options of repair v replacement as it appears quite old and was left by the previous owners of my home.

Iadom has pointed out that this Hotpoint Aquarius is an Indesit design; I think that this was manufactured by General Domestic Appliances in Peterborough which is part of Merloni, which owns, amongst others, Indesit.

    Thank you again.

    John
