hi,
Is there more information that I could try and supply that would help anyone out in terms of providing an answer? If there is anything else you need to know just let me know and I’ll do my best to provide it.
Thanks in advance

Participantthank you for that tip. We do use liquid, and we do a lot of low temp washes so you are spot on! and I don’t think I have ever done a wash at 60, let alone done a maintenance wash! It lasted 10 years though, so now I’m taking your advice maybe I’ll get another 20 🙂

phew….that was a struggle. I couldn’t get the front off (because it seems to be the only thing providing structural rigidity) to get the front weight off, and with no one else around I had a right hassle getting the drum lifted out.
Got it done though, and the spider has just been completely snapped from it’s shaft!

So, now on the hunt for the best price for one of those that I have a chance of getting delivered on friday.
There was also this bit of metal down by the heating element, it seems to have a bit of white paint on it, and I can’t tell if it is snapped from somewhere or not. Any ideas? It kind of looks like part of some sort of circlip

ParticipantThanks for the super quick reply! 🙂 I’ve taken a look at the seal and can’t quite work out how that comes off. Any tips?

right, I got round to doing that tonight, so I’ll let you know how it goes. I was a bit worried about pulling the evaporator away from the back wall enough so that i could see where to sandwich the capilary. It seemed to be ok though, the pipe attached to the evaporator seemed to have enough give in it.
Thanks for your help, and I’ll report back soon with the results
cheers

Blimey you guys are quick! 😀 And thank you for the proper terminology for my ‘wire’ and ‘plate’ hehe.
i’m hoping it’s not your scenarion smartin. I have put a pic of the capillary online:

I dont think it has any kinks that would cause issue in it? just bends?Bob, there are a couple of screws down at the bottom the the evaporator that seem to have a clip of some sort behind them, so I’ll try and get the capillary fitted there. So does the thermostat actually switch on off at very cold temps if it is attached to the evaporator, rather than the actual ‘room temperature’ of the inside of the fridge?
cheers
