so i take it they still want engineer to deliver as-well , i personally wouldnt want to do this as my days of humfing appliances up 3 flights are long gone .. but i can see where their coming from as it would be better for an engineer to install appliances ..

9 deliveries and a tub job …. ohhh joy

no probs , as i said you have a great chance to build your business by becoming a member of ukw.

its possible you could also help with online marketing as this is something most independents dont understand / or dont have the time to do.

    Re: comet

cheers , this may be a good opertunity for golocal to learn , as im sure theirs plenty of old heads on here who will lend a hand if golocal want to go forward and listen .

i liken it to hospitals – the managers havent a clue – if you want to learn go talk to the nurses and ward staff ..

i know its not a simplistic as that but i think their could be common ground where go local do what they do best – marketing, and we do what we do best – repairing . if theirs a sweet spot somewhere in the middle where we both get something worthwhile then were on a winner.

    Re: comet

personally i think you’ve done a great job at marketing your product and gave consumers another choice from what’s already available .

you now need to start building good relationships with the most important part of the business – ie the guys that go out and do the repair. one of the biggest problems for independent agents is .
AM I GOING TO GET PAID .

if you dont get this right you wont be able to maintain your market position, as im sure the other big competitors will by now starting to take notice of you and will be re thinking their marketing plans to use their existing engineering networks.

it does sound as thought your trying , you’ve came on here to build relationships – clear the air etc – i take my hat of to you for that .

the best thing to do do now is really start building better working relationships with the repair agents.

    Re: D&G Contract

i suppose its down to the individual agent what they feel they can make a living off ,

ive heard a lot of agents complaining recently about margins being squeezed , the 12 month warranty for me is a joke,i dont know how they expect agent to cover the cost of a faulty part that has nothing to do with them.

but like k said their big , have lots of toys and its their way or nothing ..

shame really – do they think were all that stupid

    Re: D&G Contract

i dont work for them – but why doesn’t everyone stop working for them for a week or so.
it sound as though the work isnt there anyway – re giving the cream to manufacturers and passing the lucky agents all the built ins or Chinese or any other crap that you spend 2-3 hours chasing spares thus loosing all of the mark up.

this does seem severe if they are loosing money , cant blame them for being peed off . who knows what the knock on effect of disgruntled workers will be for new owners ??
