GOOGLE MAPS IS FREE — USE IT – the more small businesses are visible on Google the better, collectively we can take back local customers from the big nationals

GOOGLE LOCAL SERVICES IS THE NEXT BEST MARKETING TOOL AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL COMPANIES
it cost you £5 per successful phone call, and you are in charge of this ie you get access to a Google control panel and can advise if the call was relevant to your business — UNLIKE GOOGLE PPC ADDS WHERE YOU PAY FOR EACH AND EVERY CLICK – GOOGLE GUARANTEE LOCAL SERVICES ONLY CHARGE FOR SUCCESSFUL PHONE CALLS —

google local services will put your business on top of all the sponsored national companies for £5 per call — this is very effective on mobile as your Google local services add will appear on top and fills the whole mobile screen

see the attachment for the image on what it will look like on a mobile – we can collectively use this low-cost feature to reclaim local customers

YES Ken i think the costs would outway any gains

competing with what’s out there already could get very expensive, – you would for 1 need a marketing plan & budget to compete at a national level

and like you say the office and staff – software to handle the calls

    could get expensive and messy.

one way forward i would say is for every business on here to have a Google map listing
and having done this for about 1 year i can recommend registering with google local services – (google guarantee)
once registered you will appear on top of Google for repair services – thus bypassing all the national companies

I’ve mentioned this before and its not for everyone – but its a very cost-effective way for small businesses to compete on Google
the more small repair companies get noticed on Google the better, every call they get takes away profit from the national mob

customer like to use local companies but get lost in the weeds on Google and end up calling nationals

google is providing smaller companies a way to compete, so why not take advantage

Has a phone call from a company called Comercial Domestic Investigations –
seemingly there are looking into if there were any wrongdoings at connect
i think they are ambulance chasers and will try to get any unpaid money for you,

not sure how it would work – but could be interesting

i never fit the clamp, – (this was a tip from a bosch engineer ) but i do remove the appliance and put it on its side for better access,
i can’t think how you can fit from the front that is some doing hats off

    cheers for the snapshot Ken,

yes ive got a feeling they will dump the repair side, like you said to messy and better off just selling

what sticks in my craw is i suspect they know fine what was going down and were leading the contractors a merry dance
but i guess that’s the law of the jungle

pretty sure Currys will be able to integrate the warranty repairs back into their own network
That leaves some repaircare work that would not be viable

i cant find much info on what the situation was at connect, but it looks like they went into administration, and conveniently found a buyer the same day

something very fishy but I guess that’s the nature of these big companies,

i can’t help thinking they knew they were going to screw over contractors sending jobs that they knew fine they were not going to pay out on –

but as its been said – nothing new

that wouldn’t surprise me Ken – the way this has been done so far

im not sure entirely what stance we can take, apart from all the contractors telling them to get lost

our call volumes were low so it wont make a lot of difference to us , but im starting think an eleent of sneakiness around all this
    not that im suprised

bottom line as far as i can see it – we wont get paid for any work done in feb , and then any work done from start of march to 22 march

they have managed to pay the staff , which is good thing for them – i cant think why they wouldnt have work out a deal to pay the contractors
or at least make sure screwfix honour the contractors – sneaky part im guessing

pitty there isnt a way for all the connect contractors to come together -?

no mention of when they went into administration iether
